ISMA 2014 (22-23 November 2014)
Prelimimary Programme (as of 21 October 2014)
Nursing Symposium & Workshop
Awareness in anaethesia, Pediatric sedation, Arrhythmia: Are you ready for these challenges in your daily work? Join the nursing
symposium, you can get the chance to explore more on them. This includes lectures and hand-on workshop. Don't miss the chance, come
and join us!
Neuromonitoring Workshop
Intraoperative Neuromonitoring is a valuable part of surgical procedures. Insight into the nervous system during surgery provides crucial
information to the surgeon and anaesthetists allowing reversal or avoidance of potential neural insults
Different modalities have been developed over the past decades.
In this workshop, delegates will be given opportunities to have hands on experience on various modalities of neuromonitoring including
Somatosensory Evoked Potential, Motor Evoked Potential, Electromyogram, Auditory Brain Response, Transcranial Doppler, etc. Basic
principles of these will be covered and there will be case scenario for discussion and experience sharing.
Airway Workshop
Management of Critical Airway
Are you prepared to manage the most challenging difficult airway conditions in adult, in parturient and in children? Come to this workshop to
find out! In this workshop we will go through the preparation and skill you may need in management of patient with critical airway conditions.
Nursing Problem-Based Learning
This is an interactive learning session where participants are guided step-by-step to think critically and manage crisis situations that are
commonly encountered in the perioperative period.
4 crisis scenarios will be posted. Each scenario is accompanied by several driving questions where participants can poll their answers via a
web-based polling system. Best possible actions substantiated by scientific evidence and/or updated guidelines will then be disclosed and
discussed.
Echocardiography Workshop for Anaesthetists (Echo-A)
Echo-A is a workshop designed to provide anaesthetists with the practical skills of transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) under supervised
training. This course is of particular benefit to anaesthetists with no or limited experience on TTE. It is aimed that participants would be
equipped with the necessary practical skills in performing basic TTE upon completion of the course.
There is an emphasis on hands-on practical component during the course; each participant will be given extensive opportunities in handson practices in performing basic TTE on a number of volunteers, under the guidance of experienced facilitators. Basic qualitative and
quantitative haemodynamic assessment will also be demonstrated and taught on during the practical sessions.
