Chairman’s Message
Photos from recent events on the
Jackson-Belden Chamber calendar
This year is coming to a close fast. Before you know it, the holidays will be
upon us and the snow will soon be flying! (Hey, don’t shoot the messenger!)
October was a jam-packed month for our Chamber. We proudly kicked off
our JBYP organization with 50 folks out to support the launch and the
unveiling of their new logo. Both our young professionals and our
‘seasoned’ professionals were very supportive of this exciting new group.
We had several unique outings in our community last month, including
the KSU Stark Adventure Race and the Jackson Township Haunted
Hayride. In addition, we enjoyed two wonderful Business After Hours at
Harbor Massotherapy and The Twisted Olive. The Twisted Olive, owned
and operated by the Swaldos of Gervasi Vineyard & Italian Bistro fame, is
a wonderful addition to our fine selection of dining options in the area.
You’ll want to be sure to check it out soon.
Business During Hours
Mathnasium, Sept. 24
Lastly, we partnered with the Massillon Area and North Canton Chambers
to put on a very informative Legislative Breakfast featuring an update on
the Affordable Care Act by Mike Novelli of AultCare.
Please visit our website and view the pictures of our Chamber events in
the photo gallery.
I want to thank our Ambassadors and our TIP Club Leaders for all their
hard work in making our Chamber members and guests feel welcomed at
all our events and TIP club meetings.
I also want to thank all of our military veterans who have served our nation with such distinction. Veterans Day is this month, and we appreciate
their service.

MEMBER PROFILE:
A common problem among most
businesses is not getting paid for
services or products rendered. Hundreds of billions are lost each year
due to bills unpaid, bounced checks
and credit card charge backs.
Like everyone who has ever been in
business, John Covender understands the problems it can cause
when someone doesn’t pay you.
Coming from a background in restoration cleaning and construction
work, he was determined to find a
better way.
He created KnowYourCustomers.com to pre-qualify and warn business owners of potential customers
who may have previous unpaid
transactions. Traditional tracking
methods are expensive, and most
are dated and inaccurate; in addition, many bad business debts are
far too small to recover via costly
current collection methods.
KYC uses a central database that
tracks prior customer payment patterns so businesses across multiple
industries and demographics can
communicate with one another. The
result is an affordable, real-time solution that saves companies money
that would normally be lost to bad
business transactions.
Economic times have changed dramatically and it is time to provide an easyto-use system with real-time access to
information about a consumer before
you engage into a contract with them.
The goal of KYC is to help interrupt the
cycle of loss experienced by businesses. This is not only important to KYC,
but will help and sustain a successful
long-term business environment for
our clients.
KYC provides real-time links to various
industries and business record types
creating a first-to-market service that
can access customer financial data
trends simultaneously.
Many types of industry verticals have
tracking organizations that act as a
clearing house for payment history
information. However, they are limited
to information available only within
their own specific industry. NONE of
these boutique clearing houses are
capable of communicating with other
industries outside of that vertical. For
years “business” has been about the
consumer and now with KnowYourCustomers.com, businesses have a
knowledge base tool for their own use
in real-time.
Currently there are very few easily
available and cost effective resources
to help protect businesses before they
extend credit to or do business with a
potential slow or non-paying customer.
KYC is not only recession proof, but
during unfortunate market downswings
would actually bring in more clients as
businesses seek to minimize potential
losses.
KYC’s main service is payment pattern
information collection which is distributed through a central searchable database. The database allows KYC users access to vital information before a
transaction is complete. Providing this
information helps reduce the risk to
the seller and helps to limit losses
caused by potential non-payers, slow
payers, non-sufficient funds, and
charge backs that cost business owners billions of dollars.
The benefit of KYC is to allow businesses access to current information
for non-paying customers in order to
decide whether to enter into a relationship with them. KYC gives businesses the opportunity to reduce
costs associated with trying to collect bad debts as well as proactively
engaging with quality customers
from the start.
Each month we showcase a Chamber member’s business or organization. To be considered, send a 500-word article that highlights your company, services, staff, products, or similar topics, to Ashley Winter at awinter@jbcc.org. High resolution logos and photographs should be included. The Chamber reserves the right to include articles at its own discretion and may edit your submission for grammar and style. Articles are considered for publication in the order in which they are received.

(6742) or by using the soon-to-be-released online form.
Unemployment Compensation: You may have recently received a communication from the Ohio Department of Job
and Family Services (ODJFS) regarding an electronic data
exchange system available to employers. The State Information Data Exchange system (SIDES) and SIDES EResponse described in the ODJFS communication is an option for employers but not mandatory. Employers can still
