Have you tried the new Classic RC mouthpiece?
It's now available for ordering at most stores. The Classic RC Series for Alto delivers a
centered, darker tone and provides for a wide dynamic range with terrific response, including
a distinctively improved lower register. This new design features slightly reshaped sidewalls
and baffle, and is available for alto saxophone in three facings.

On Tuning the Concert Band Saxophone Section
Many student players take the time to tune to one note -- which is
fine for a start. But, it is necessary to relate to different notes
when working with a saxophone section. Learn more at:

Ferling: 24 Melodic Studies
“I have found these 24 lyrical etudes of Ferling to have great value as they provide
an opportunity for developing tone quality, musical phrasing and good choices for
taking breaths. I've included some comments on the harmonic structure as well.”
Available from Jeannè Publishing.
E. Rousseau Metal mouthpieces for alto and tenor saxophone allow the
player to achieve a powerful tone with an excellent balance of edge and
warmth. www.eugene-rousseau.com/jazz.htm
The low baffle and angled side walls guide the air to produce a a very
consistent sound in all registers that almost never sounds harsh or too bright.
These mouthpieces are designed to produce a clear and beautiful tone quality,
and capable of tremendous volume of sound.
Each mouthpiece is 24 carat gold-plated and includes a superior quality
ligature and cap.
The catalogue of Eugene Rousseau recordings includes more than a dozen
discs. His Deutsche Grammophon recording (1971) was the first complete disk of
saxophone concertos with orchestra. See his complete discography

It is with sadness that we report the passing of Darrell Aderman, the founder
of the Shell Lake Arts Camp, where the E. Rousseau saxophone workshops have
been offered for years.
The Shell Lake Arts Center auditorium was officially named for its founder,
Darrell Aderman, on Wednesday night, June 27, during the Big Band Tribute
concert. Dr. Rousseau honored him and his wife, Billie, during the ceremony
and spoke briefly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UD8k7xJwJVQ
How Should You Test a Saxophone Mouthpiece?
The question is a good one and deserves a straight forward answer. Five steps should be
taken in testing a mouthpiece: (1) Use several reeds of slightly different strengths. Your
favorite reed is probably comfortable on your current mouthpiece. (2) Be certain that the
reed is placed correctly on the mouthpiece, that its tip is even with the mouthpiece tip,
and that it is centered from side to side. (3) Does the reed seal? Keeping the end
covered, draw the air out of it and then take the mouthpiece from your mouth. For
more, go to: http://www.eugene-rousseau.com/discussions.htm#Test
