I want to thank all of the students, staff, parents, and community members for continuing to support the Pecos Schools! Our schools continue to show immense academic growth, and this is attributed to the focus that we have placed on ensuring our students and staff are well prepared in the classroom. As Superintendent, I expect that our staff is preparing our students to be College and Career Ready. This means increasing accountability for all the stakeholders involved with educating our students—it also includes accountability for our students. We have continued with our Bond Projects that have been student/staff focused. I want to update you on the status of our activities on the campus. Know that the students, staff, and community have benefited from the passage of the bond election held in September of 2012. We are grateful for your support! Below is a list of some of the Bond Projects that have been completed or are in progress: Installation of over 100 security cameras district-wide for safety and monitoring Installation of Keyless Entry system which includes buzzer/camera activated entry to each building to ensure safety and monitoring of visitors Construction of entry way onto the Pecos ISD campus—to include new steps, a wider road access, and a decreased slope to ensure safety for all traffic New computer labs at each school unit for student use New Track/Field Facility including Concessions and Restroom Facility utilized for track meets, physical education classes, community use, field days, and other functions Lockers for the intermediate students at the Pecos Elementary School New flooring for the Pecos Elementary Cafeteria/Gym—utilized for breakfasts, lunches, Physical Education classes, community/school functions, and games Re-roofing of the Pecos Elementary School with a new portal to divert rain/snow Construction of a new parking lot that can park over 200 vehicles for sporting events—located adjacent to the high school gymnasium Construction of a softball/baseball complex for the district teams—also to be utilized by the community for little league and other functions Installed refrigerated cooling units in all classrooms for the district for conducive learning environments All projects were all presented to the community prior to the bond election. It has been an incredible experience to watch the students, staff, and community utilize the finished projects. It is exciting to know that projects that are being completed now will be used for years to come by all. The district continues to have meetings with the Community Bond Committee where the projects are discussed and presented. More updates will continue as the current projects are completed. The roofing project will be entirely finished by December 1st. The baseball/softball complex completion is more tentative because of the elements; however, progress will continue. As always, your continued support is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions regarding the bond projects or any other matter related to the Pecos ISD, please contact me. Have a safe and joyful holiday season! Fred Trujillo, Superintendent Pecos ISD
