The cantata celebrates the legacy of early American carols and hymnody. Composed in the spirit of folk music, the cantata combines traditional sounds with more rustic elements. Popular American carols like "Away in a Manger" and "O Little Town of Bethlehem" dance with traditional spirituals such as "Children, Go Where I Send Thee" and "Go, Tell It on the Mountain.” Sacred Harp tunes, Shaker hymns, and Appalachian melodies are also woven into the work. Presbyterian Women’s annual Christmas bake sale is Sunday, December 14th. All kinds of baked goods are welcome, so start checking your recipes. We also will have a table of Christmas items, so if you have anything to donate for this table, handmade or otherwise, please let Marilyn McIntosh know. ~~~ WEEKLY CALENDAR Sunday, November 23 Adult Sunday School – Chapel . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 8:00 a.m. Breakfast and the Bible - Chapel . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 9:00 a.m. Worship – Sanctuary . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 10:00 a.m. Bake Sale – Patio . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . following worship Middle School Youth Group – Chapel . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 11:30 a.m. Spanish & Portuguese services - Sanctuary Building . . . . . . . . . . . 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.; 7:00 -11:00 p.m. Monday, November 24 Westminster Choir . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 5:15 p.m. Westminster Bell Choir . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 6:30 p.m. Board of Deacons – Chapel . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 7:00 p.m. Boy Scout Troop 420 - 2nd floor of Education Building . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 25 Cub Scout Troop 420 - 2nd floor of Education Building . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 6:30 p.m. Thursday, November 27 — Thanksgiving Day Church and Learning Centers offices closed Friday, November 28 Church and Learning Centers offices closed Saturday, November 29 Hanging of the Greens – Sanctuary . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 30 – Family Sunday Adult Sunday School – Chapel . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 8:00 a.m. Breakfast and the Bible - Chapel . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 9:00 a.m. Worship – Sanctuary . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 10:00 a.m. Good News Kidz (GNK) - Sanctuary/ Education Building . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .10:00 a.m. Spanish & Portuguese services - Sanctuary Building . . . . . . . . . . 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.; 7:00 -11:00 p.m. Senior High Youth Group – Chapel . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 5:00 p.m.
