Report Description
The digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) system is used to create a 3-dimentional image of
breast by using many low/high dose x-rays obtained at different angles. Digital breast
tomosynthesis is similar to computed tomography imaging in which a number of images
is taken to create a 3-D image of body. Mostly digital breast tomosynthesis used low dose
of radiation, but for some procedures, digital breast tomosynthesis have higher level of
radiation dose than that of standard mammography. Although, radiation dose remains
within the criteria of safe dose levels of radiation as per the regulations. According to
GLOBOCAN, 1.7 million cases of breast cancer were diagnosed worldwide in 2012.
Incidence of breast cancer is increasing worldwide, and so the number of deaths due to
breast cancer. Digital breast tomosynthesis helps to identify the breast cancers that
cannot be identified with conventional mammography.
Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) System Market: Drivers and Restraints
Digital breast tomosynthesis system market is growing as the incidence of breast cancer
is increasing rapidly worldwide. Major drivers for the digital breast tomosynthesis market
is its accuracy over mammography to detect the cancer at an early stage. Other factors
such as improvement in technology, increasing number of market players, and greater
accuracy in detection of shape, location and size of breast abnormality are expected to
boost the digital breast tomosynthesis system market growth rate in near future.
However, high price, limited number of manufactures and lack of awareness in
developing countries are the main restraint of the digital breast tomosynthesis system
market growth.
