He or she liaises with affiliated, faculty and departmental librarians, and with academic staff and researchers, to understand their needs and to guide the long-term direction of collections. The role holder has responsibility for all expenditure for the collection development budget for modern English language books. Your times of work should be agreed between you and your head of institution. You will be also required to work one full Saturday in eight weeks, or a half day on Saturday every 4 weeks. There is also a requirement to work one evening duty per week until 7.15pm, or 10.00pm in Easter term, for which compensatory pay is given. The division is responsible for the selection, acquisition, cataloguing and processing of books and journals, print and electronic, in English and European languages to support research and teaching. The Collections and Academic Liaison department is responsible for the acquisition of material in English and European languages published in countries throughout the world (excluding English legal deposit material) and for the cataloguing of all material in European languages.
