While these primarily cover Genesee County cemeteries, several also include cemeteries in the
surrounding counties of Lapeer, Livingston, Oakland, Saginaw, Shiawassee and Tuscola.
Please Note: The information in Books 01 - 22 of our Cemetery Publications is taken from the personal
notes of Merle Gilbert Perry, Jr. (1921-1980). An early member of the FGS who held several key offices
over the years, Mr. Perry was particularly interested in gathering and preserving cemetery records. His
readings were taken from 1961 to 1965; therefore they DO NOT contain any burials after 1965. Some of
these cemeteries have been redone in later publications which contain more current information but do not
contain Mr. Perry's personal notes on family information.

Old Flint City Cemetery (Burial dates from 1836-1958. This cemetery
was physically relocated from 1952 to 1958. Some re-interments were
made at other cemeteries as arranged privately by family members. All
other re-interments occurred at the new Flint City Cemetery where all
records were later lost in an office fire in the 1960's. This one-of-a-kind
book is an excellent attempt to recreate that record from death records,
obituaries and various other sources. It contains approximately 1,800
burials.) By Dale Ladd, 50pp 1994 pub.

**Note for Fenton: Many first names were abbreviated by the census enumerator, so old county
directories & cemetery books were used to determine many of the first names listed in this record.
***Note for Flint Ward No. 2: The microfilm copy was very difficult to read. Many alternate record
sources were consulted to arrive at a final interpretation.

The Monforte Letters: Correspondence
of Historical Interest 1837-1919 Over 300 pages, including index. "Includes randomly selected copies of
original letters with photos and pedigree charts." Written more than a century ago, The Monforte Letters is
a collection of letters written amongst family and friends from 1837-1919. The letters, originally kept by
Harriet Monforte and her eldest daughter, Martha “Mattie” Monforte Andrews, were felt to be important
enough to be treasured by succeeding generations. The Monfortes were not wealthy or noted, but surely
give us a glimpse into the daily lives of ordinary people of the times.
Some Often Mentioned Surnames: Volckman, Rogers, Monforte, Moore, Hill, Andrews, Bath, Burchard,
Cure, Darbee, Dicken, Dunlop, Farnsworth, Fenton, Gee, Grojer, Harlow, Humphrey, Jefferson, Jenkins,

Some Locations Mentioned: Buffalo, NY; Cowlesville, NY; Darien, NY; Bridgewater, NY; Brant, NY;

PA; New Orleans, LA; San Francisco, CA; Summit Mines, CO; Dixie, OK territory; Cleveland, OK; Tusla,
OK; St. Joseph, MO.
The letters were transcribed and printed generally as written without any correction of spelling or
punctuation keeping to original as much as possible, however, some sentence periods and new
paragraphs were added when needed for clarity. $30.00
