This brochure contains addresses and pictures of the 14 hostels that are open
during the season of 2017. The hostels are overnight accommodations for
hikers, pilgrims and cyclists, and they are situated along the Hærvejen between Viborg and Hirtshals/Frederikshavn. You can find the locations and
more information about the hostels on pilgrimhostels.org and haervej.dk.

Hærvejen’. We particularly recommend walking along the coast between
Hune and Lønstrup by the North Sea Trail.

Hostels along ’Hærvejen’
From Viborg to
Frederikshavn and Hirtshals
JUNI – JULI – AUGUST 2017
The hotels are open in June, July and August for hikers, pilgrims and
cyclists. However, the hostels may be open outside the summer season, please contact the hosts.
Overnight stays cost 100 DKK per person. Half price for children between 7 and 12 with their family. Children younger than 7 years stay
for free.
Cash only.
Booking not necessary. Guests choose their beds upon arrival. There
are at least 10 beds in each hostel.
Hostels are open from 5 pm until 10 am.
There are bunk beds, and guests bring their own sleeping bags and
sheets.
There are fully equipped kitchens as well as washbasins, toilets and
showers.
Dogs are not allowed at the hostels.
At several hostels, it is possible to buy provisions to a limited extent.
The architect Andreas Blinkenberg and the pilgrims’ pastor Elisabeth Lidell got the idea of establishing the hostels along the Hærvejen when walking on the old pilgrims’ route ‘El Camino’ in Spain.
The project of establishing the hostels is supported by Fonden Realdania, Friluftsrådet, counties and
municipalities along the Hærvejen, as well as the EU-art. 33 subsidies.
The Association of Hostels along Hærvejen consists of representatives several relevant organisations.
