Child Life Workshop
An introductory workshop to learn more about the role of a child life specialist.
This workshop is open to high school juniors and seniors, college students, and adults considering a
possible career change.


Child Life 101 – an overview of the child life specialist role
o Discuss the traditional roles of a child life specialist
o Watch video clips of child life staff working with patients and families
o Explore the process of a child life specialist from patient assessment to intervention
o Participate in a panel discussion with Certified Child Life Specialists
Child Life 201 – an overview of the requirements to enter the field
o Academic preparation
o The journey from student to professional – what is required and what is not
o Discuss your unique needs during afternoon breakout sessions

8:30 a.m. – Morning session: Child Life 101
12:30 p.m. – Afternoon session registration
1 p.m. – Afternoon session: Child Life 201
4:30 p.m. – Dismissal

Please register for your preferred day at the Web site of the hospital hosting the event
Registration fee:
Morning session only: Child Life 101 – $25
Afternoon session only: Child Life 201 – $25
Full-day both sessions – $40 (lunch is included)
