WORKSHOP BACKGROUND
WORKSHOP AGENDA
The tertiary education sector has entered into a new era of
transformation with shifting priorities and emerging commercial
challenges that are global in scale. Faculty finance professionals have
a key operational role to play in achieving organisational success in
this environment.
The changing finance environment within Higher
Education
This practical course has been designed to provide a much needed
toolkit for finance officers and managers in a variety of institutions.
It focuses on the key skills and tools that can provide an immediate
measurable impact upon performance of their faculty. Strategies
and tools to achieve both efficiency and productivity / performance
improvement are also explored.
• The impact of funding reform and heightened competition on University
finance
• Understanding the priorities of the CFO and University leadership
Participants will also benefit from practical guidance on how to
influence and educate faculty management, non-financial managers
and academics on a variety financial management issues. They will
also learn better utilise budgets and financial reports and appreciate
the importance of integration, management responsibility and
accountability.
The majority of attendees in this course will be trained in accounting
/ finance. Other professionals who do not have this training should

Lindsay Dewberry, CPA
Principal
Panache Training and Consulting
Lindsay Dewberry is the Principal of Panache Training & Consulting
Pty Ltd and is involved in the development and delivery of training
programs across workplace and academic environments.
After completing an economics degree at Monash University,
Lindsay worked for more than 20 years in the financial services
industry, where he held a variety of senior accounting and
management roles while also completing a post graduate
qualification in accounting.
A long standing CPA in his own right, Lindsay commenced his
consulting business in 2000 and has gained significant expertise
in the areas of performance measurement and external accounting.
His experiences span many of the services industries, federal,
state and local governments, higher education, not for profit and
manufacturing sectors, with a significant client base across both
large and small organisations.
