University Club of Michigan State University Around the Club… News & Updates from CEO/GM Karen Grannemann, CCM By now, you’ve received a letter from me, challenging you to recruit one new U-Club member. The response has been overwhelming…so many of you have sent in numerous nominations, and we are extending a warm invitation to each one. Thank you so much for your support, and I look forward to welcoming your friends and colleagues as members. University Club of Michigan State University 3435 Forest Road, P.O. I’m sure some of you are wondering why this is so crucial to the Club’s future. You may be thinking that smaller is better, that a large influx of new members would be bad. Throughout the Club’s 85 years, others have undoubtedly felt the same way, as the Club’s membership expanded. But that growth has enabled us to provide the widest array of services, 363 days a year, in a well-maintained and newly renovated clubhouse for the lowest per-member price. Many people are surprised at how low dues are, and we want to keep it that way. Looking forward, we want to continue to improve our clubhouse, expand our wine program, renovate the pool and recreational areas, enhance the Terrace, reduce our environmental footprint, add a special gazebo for weddings, expand our services, and so much more. A vibrant and expanded membership can make that possible. Grannemann Every year, we lose about 10% of our members to attrition, and only you can recruit the people you want to see in the dining room, on the next treadmill, or beside you by the pool. We are working diligently to continuously improve the quality and scope of products and services we provide to you, as well as the support we provide to our community and employees, and need your help to do so. It’s a matter of economics…the more business we do, the more we can do for you! So, in the spirit of David Letterman, here's a "Top Ten" list for you! U-CLUB SPA Follow the Trends to Keep Your Makeup Look in Style By Ashley Matson, U-Club Spa Coordinator Trends come and go for all things fashionable and makeup is no exception! Right now, a natural look is very in style. Try using nude tones on a glowing palate without heavy mascara or dark eye shadows. For fall, the trend also includes warm, autumnal makeup. This look can include the eyes and/or lips using light brown, beige, warm oranges, and yellow hues. Our Glo Minerals line has a wonderful collection of naturals that would work well with both of these trends. Come holiday season, the high drama trend is still popular! Create the classic smoky eye by applying intense eye shadow colors to the brow line, then use a black eye liner on the lower lid. Go with a little sparkle and use gold, copper, silver, and bronze metallic eye makeup. Also on trend are bright red or crimson lips. You can achieve this look by keeping eye makeup to a minimum and applying a red, raspberry, or pink lipstick and liner. The U-Club Spa offers makeup application for special occasions, consultations for makeup selection and application techniques, and a full line of all-natural Glo Minerals makeup. Stop in to the Spa to pick up your Glo Minerals holiday favorites or call 353-5113 to set up an appointment with our makeup specialist.
