Huggins (daughter of Joan Winterringer) Brian Amelunke Mason Camp (Roy & Janet Camp’s grandson) Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I am tendering my resignation as your Senior Minister effective December 31, 2014. My official retirement will begin on January 1, 2015. These last fourteen years have been the most rewarding of my forty plus years in ministry. We shared a variety of peaks and valleys on an amazing journey where we affirmed God’s presence and sought to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the world. Hearts have been touched and lives changed, including my own. Carolyn and I are exceeding grateful for the friendships, love, and support we have received. Our appreciation for your care and concern through my recent illness cannot be expressed with words. My original plan was to retire at age seventy, but recent medical developments have brought us to a new reality. More tests were run because my lungs were not recovering from the double pneumonia. It was determined I have lymphangitic carcinomatosis. This is a condition where the primary cancer has invaded the lymph system and then has migrated to the lymph system in the lungs. In my present condition there is no treatment. As a result I will be entering hospice care in the next few weeks. I continue to pray for Central Christian Church on a daily basis. I know that God will guide this wonderful community of faith though this transition. I also covet your prayers as Carolyn and I embrace this last stage of my earthly life. John P. McLemore Senior Minister Central Chancel Choir DVD Available Gene Heitfeld and Max Johnson have made a DVD of choral numbers that Central’s chancel choir has sung over the past two years. It is an hour long DVD and was copied for the choir by Roy Camp. The Chancel Choir is offering these to members of the church for $5 each for as fundraiser for the choir. They may call Max Johnson at 237-8322 and he will get them a copy. CWF will be having a bake sale this Sunday at the Market of Blessings. We would appreciate baked goods being brought to the church no later than 8am Sunday November 23rd. Don’t forget to pick up pecans for your holiday baking! Pecans are $10 and all proceeds benefit CWF missions. Thank You Children’s Christmas Program Practice! Practice will begin for the Christmas Program on December 3 at 6pm in the Fellowship Hall. Practice will be from 6pm to 7pm. All ages are invited to come! We will practice December 3 & 10. We will have a quick run through at 4:45pm on December 14. We will need cookies for after the program! The Entire Church is Invited! Children’s Christmas Program will be December 14 at 6pm. The program will be followed by cookies & punch! Thank You Note I wanted to say thank you to the church. While I was acting minister in charge in Don and John’s absence the last two weeks, things went very smooth. I was able to continue my seminary school work, attend to the needs of bereaved families, visit a few folks in hospitals, do some mission work, and try to keep up with youth ministry as well. Thank you also goes to Denise Bellville, Peg and Denny Krick’s daughter, who supplies me with prayers to post in the twice weekly emails. Peace, JW. To honor Rev. McLemore in his retirement, we invite you to a Fellowship Luncheon on December 7 immediately following the 10:15am services. If you would like to give a donation toward a retirement gift, please send it to the Church marked McLemore retirement. Looking Ahead to Advent! I stayed home with my family and spent time being present. Hopefully your time was spent well too. This week we will have the Thanksgiving meal following worship. During youth group time, we will discuss scriptures of Thanksgiving. It will need your participation. Also consider what ideas we want to bring for what to share for the tasting party on November 30th. Advent is almost here. How do you celebrate advent and Christ presence refreshed? I can’t wait to hear your response. Peace, JW.
