December (PDF version) - Bordentown Elks Lodge 2085

THE CHRONICLE
Greetings to our Membership:
Sue and I would like to wish you and your families a happy and healthy holiday season. I would like to start out with letting you know a few new things here at Bordentown. We now have an active, hard working and dedicated membership committee
chaired by George Grondski. Our Auditing committee now has four members and is
being chaired by Mickey DeSantis. Also chaired by Mickey is a new Audio-Visual
Committee. Congratulations and thank you from all for stepping up George and Mickey. Lou Gamba is now the chairman of the YAC. I would like to express my gratitude
to his committee for running a successful soccer shoot. I believe this is the first in
many years and I hope the first of many to come.
The Trustees have had a very busy year and have been doing an excellent job. They
will be moving forward with some big projects including a new roof, new airconditioning, and updating the lighting system which should reduce our electric bills
monthly. The Ladies Auxiliary ran their Annual Craft Show in November, and as always, were a success.
Jim Sharpe and his committee collected for Toys for Tots and are collecting items for our Troops. Please read the
Bulletin to see how you can help. We should be proud of and support all of our committees. When an event is done,
we only see the finished product. I know first hand that there are countless hours and work behind the scenes that
lead to their success. Thank You all.
The Elk of the Month for November is Tom Kelly. He has volunteered a large amount of his personal time this past
year working on the Lodge’s electrical system. To end 2014, the December Elk of the Month is Dan Perrata. Dan is
a member of our CanDo Committee and has also volunteered his time maintaining our Lodge, including upkeep of
the grounds and repairs to the building. Thank you both and it is an honor to know you.
Finally, don’t forget the Lodge will be selling Christmas trees, and Poinsettias this holiday season. Our Christmas
Social and New Years Eve Celebration are right around the corner and tickets are on sale.
Once again, enjoy your holidays, stay well and God bless.
Fraternally Yours,
Cary F. Crivelli

We have Installed 2 Brand New 55” LED TV’s in the 2 corners of the Lodge Bar Room and relocated the 2 40” TV’s to hang from the ceiling. The Lodge Bar Room now has a great new look. Please come out and enjoy them, many members have commented that they look
great. With Fios and Direct TV just about every game is shown on Sunday Football, come join us as we sit back and enjoy the new larger
screen TV’s and the new viewing angel.
Please note, Closed Caption is available on 4 of the 6 TV’s in the Lodge Bar Room with instant access. If you have a favorite show that
you would like to watch, just ask the Bartender to tune it in on one of the TV’s and press the CC button on the remote.
The Committee has upgraded the TV in the Game Room with a brand new 42” LED TV. Just ask the bartender for the remote control
and enjoy.
The Committee is currently running a fundraiser to help raise funds for the upkeep and improvements to the audio/video equipment in the
lodge. We are selling $1.00 raffle tickets all month with a drawing the last Sunday of each month, winner receives half. We will continue to
do this each month till Super Bowl. If you enjoy the TV’s and/or the music, please support our raffle. Thank you.
I would like to introduce the Audio/Video Committee, currently we have Trustee, CK Lippincott, Don Wirth, Keith Kolenski, and Joe Steward. Anyone wishing to join the committee please see me, Chairman Mickey DeSantis. We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7:30

Women’s Auxiliary
Our Annual Craft Show was a huge success with both upstairs and down sold out with crafters and vendors. I hope you got to come out,
shop, and have a bite to eat. Rosemary did a great job organizing the event and working with all the vendors. Patti stocked our kitchen
with delicious breakfast and lunch items, which were a big hit. We had a great turn out of auxiliary members that helped to make the day
run smoothly – THANK YOU LADIES! A very special thank you goes out to the ‘auxiliary husbands’ and lodge members that set the tables, opened the lodge very early Saturday morning, and provided assistance all day. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Jerry Blavat tickets go on sale now this month. Don’t miss the “Geator with the Heater” on Friday, February 6th and enjoy a night of great
oldies and dancing. (See ad in bulletin for more info.) We are also planning a Murder Mystery dinner for February 28th in the upper ballroom so save the date. More details to follow.
Attention Auxiliary Members
Our annual Christmas Party will be Friday, December 5th in the mirror room. Please see Patti DeSantis for a ticket. Cost is $5. Don’t
forget to bring a $15 gift for the gift exchange if you would like to participate.
The 2015-2016 Officer Nomination Committee will be forming soon and we will have openings to fill. As you know, the auxiliary raises
much needed funds for the lodge through special events and fundraisers. We need volunteers to step up into officer positions to help
keep the auxiliary running. Ladies, please consider a position. Our officers meet 1 hour a month to manage these events. If you would
like more information on a specific office, check your copy of the by-laws for an explanation of the responsibilities. The nomination process will be reviewed in our January meeting. Our next Executive Board Meeting is December 3rd and the General Meeting is
December 10th. Hope to see you there. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!

Elk members, families and friends. Buy One Today!!!
Hurry, only so many left.
We are moving along a little slowly right now but I’m
sure that will change. Our steak dinner was a great
success. Thank you to Don Wirth and the great crew
who worked long hours to make it great. The Friday
Night dinners and Sandwich Nights are low in
attendance right now but we hope this will change in
the future. Come out, give them a try, the fellowship
among the members is well worth it.
The uniform was modeled at the Steak dinner and
was well received by many. Now we just need to
know if you will be attending next year’s convention.
Giovanni has all of last years measurements so if
you sign up for a uniform and you attended last year
and your size has basically remained the same we
will be able to eliminate the initial sizing.
Bob Swanson will be chairing the Flower sale again this
year, look for sign up sheets in the bar in November, we
will have 2 delivery dates, Dec 6th and Dec 13th.
We still have tickets for the PC and TV on sale.
Please support our fundraisers if possible. Remember, this is your convention and the committee is trying to keep the cost at a minimum. No one gets anything from our fundraisers but the members going
to Wildwood. Any monies left from convention after
all bills are covered will be turned over to next year’s
Committee.
We are selling Christmas Trees in December for the Holiday. See Flyer in this bulletin for details.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe and
Healthy New Year.
Cookie Sale
Thank you to everyone who made or purchased cookies.
35 trays were made and sold, very successful!!!
