2015 Course Guide - TAFE Queensland SkillsTech

It’s time we celebrate
the doers. The builders,
the bakers, the fancy
clothes-makers. The picture
takers and flower bunchers,
city makers and number
crunchers. The protectors,
the nurturers, the entertainers,
and the people who make
us all look beautiful.
The upskillers, the room
chillers, and the all-important
pollution killers. The mariners
and miners, mechanics and
medics, the graziers and
glaziers, and people who
just amaze you. You’re the
people who make the
world turn. You’re the
people who make
great happen.

FUNDING OPTIONS
Found a TAFE Queensland SkillsTech course you want to enrol in but don’t have
the funds to pay for it? No problem. There’s a range of funding options available for
individual students and companies seeking to train their employees.
FOR ELIGIBLE INDIVIDUALS, YOU MAY WANT TO
CONSIDER ONE OF THESE OPTIONS.
VET FEE-HELP – TAFE Queensland SkillsTech students can now
access VET FEE-HELP, a loan from the Federal Government to
cover the cost of tuition fees for approved programs. This means
you can study now, gain the qualification you need to get the new
job or promotion, and pay back the loan when you can afford it.
FOR COMPANIES SEEKING TO TRAIN
EMPLOYEES, ONE OF THE FOLLOWING
FUNDING OPTIONS MIGHT BE APPLICABLE.
Payment plans – If you have difficulty paying the full amount of a
course up front, you may be eligible for a payment plan.
Queensland Apprenticeship Pledge – a new initiative designed
to drive the creation of additional apprenticeship opportunities.
Eligible employers who sign up to the program will be paid an
incentive of up to $6000 for each additional apprentice they take
on above their benchmark. Contact Training Queensland for more
information on 1300 369 935 or visit training.qld.gov.au
Certificate 3 Guarantee – The Certificate 3 Guarantee provides
subsidies to assist eligible Queenslanders who do not have a post
school qualification higher than a certificate II to obtain a certificate
III level qualification.
School to Trade Pathway incentive – private and public sector
employers may be eligible for a $5000 bonus payment if they
commence a school-based apprentice, on or after 1 July 2013,
which is then converted to a full-time arrangement.
There is a vast range of certificate III qualifications subsidised under
the Certificate 3 Guarantee. Find out more about Certificate 3
Guarantee on the Training website at training.qld.gov.au
Registered Trade Skills Pathway programs – these fully-funded
programs are designed for existing workers in the manufacturing,
engineering and construction industries aged over 21 years.
They provide funding for workers to gain formal qualifications
outside traditional apprenticeship programs. For more information
about Registered Trade Skills Pathway programs contact TAFE
Queensland SkillsTech directly on 1800 654 447.
Scholarships – Contact TAFE Queensland SkillsTech to see if any
scholarships are available to help with your education and training
expenses.
Fee-free training for Year 12 graduates - Year 12 graduates
will be able to access fee-free training in high priority areas from
January 2015.
To be eligible for fee-free training, Year 12 graduates need to
commence training in a high priority qualification with a preapproved training provider within the calendar year following the
completion of Year 12.
The Fee-free training will apply to high priority qualifications on the
Training website available under the Queensland Government’s
Certificate 3 Guarantee program or User Choice program, which
funds workplace-based apprenticeship and traineeship training.
Talk to one of our friendly Client Service Centre staff about these
funding options.
Trade Support Loans – Intended to assist apprentices with
everyday costs whilst they complete their apprenticeships. The loan
is paid in instalments totalling up to $20,000 over four years.
Australian government funding
The Australian Government also provides apprenticeship incentives
for employers, including:
•
Australian School-based Apprenticeship Incentive
•
Assistance for Australian Apprentices with Disability
•
Support for Adult Australian Apprentices
For more information on the current incentives available
for employers from the Australian Government visit
