Employment Opportunities
Those graduating from the e-Commerce course are all-rounders
who understand how to connect worlds. The range of opportunities
is just as diverse as the business areas of our partner companies.
Of particular focus are typical online trading and Internet service
provider careers, such as:
XX Shop Manager: Responsible for category, order, customer and
returns management, as well as legal issues and payment
systems
XX Content Manager: Responsible for updating product details
and catalogue contents
XX Online Marketing Manager: Responsible for campaigns to
increase profitability
XX Affiliate Manager: Organises partner networks
XX Social Media Manager: Organises activities in social networks
Employment at industrial companies is gaining in stature alongside
opportunities at trading companies. Sales was where it all started,
but it has long since been joined by procurement (e-Procurement),
marketing (online marketing), (customer) management (e-CRM),
training (e-Learning), quality management and web/software
development.

The profile for e-Commerce graduates is not focussed on the smallminded accountant, but rather business people looking to implement
innovative business models for the company in a cross-disciplinary
way. They manage the latest Internet technologies and their integration into existing IT and operational software systems.
The course was accredited in 2013 and devised in close cooperation
with e-Commerce companies in Jena. Personal contact of students to
our partners, who are funding the course to the tune of half a million
Euros, is a particular requirement. Joint project and research work is
carried out, with mutual relationship building laying the foundations
for employment in the future.
