The development taking place in these markets has affected us, but we maintain and continously develop our engagement in these markets via our offices in Kiev and Smolensk. A step forward During the past year we have experienced a growth in the sale of projects to the Baltic States, Denmark and Poland. On the domestic market we have experienced an increased sale to the biomas bulk handling industry, where wood chips and pellets are used as an alternative energy source to coal. At the moment we are working on a large and complex plant for DONG Energy in Studstrup, near Aarhus, in cooperation with Persolit A/S. It is our largest project so far, and when completed in 2016, it will bring our company to an even higher level. This plant will become our largest reference installation, which will have an impact on the tasks that we will be able to solve in the future. We are looking forward to that. Quality Lachenmeier Monsun is a know-how based company with own manufacturing plant. We listen to our customers' challenges and advice on the tasks based on the market knowledge and the years of experience we have had in the this branch. We design and produce the solutions that add value to the customers' business. There should not be any doubt , that everyone in our organization is aware that the customer is always in focus – it is the customer that pays our wages. In order to substantiate our efforts in improving our work and work processes, we are engaged in a comprehensive quality management program that will lead us to the upcoming ISO 9001 certification. We have introduced aggressive performance targets to be able at any time to live up to customer expectations, but also to remain an excellent workplace that attracts the best employees at all levels. In July, we were granted the EN 1090 certificate and today we can deliver construction steel with certificate. Each delivery can be checked and traced. This provides an extra security for us and our customers. At the same time we received the ISO 3834 certificate covering our welding procedures. Our installers and production staff have taken additional education courses in welding. In addition, the company has continuously increased focus on health and safety for all employees. Investments We continue to invest in production and logistics, mainly because we believe that it is crucial that our product developers and project managers are constantly in close contact with colleagues who manufacture and install our solutions. In 2014, our factory has been supplemented with a new hydraulic press brake, and we have ordered an advanced welding robot that will be set in production in the first quarter of 2015. The new machines will be integrated into our existing IT structures . The objective here is to ensure a high and consistent quality and reduce our delivery time, so the products quickly reach the end-customers. A dynamic year with exciting challenges is coming to an end. We enter 2015 with the largest order book ever – a fact all employees here are proud of. We are also very much aware that the customers' expectations to us have increased too. Page 2 MONSUNnews - December 2014: 03 Welcome to a world Safety has a top priority when one of the largest energy groups in the Nordic countries - DONG Energy, invests in Avedøre plant located south of Copenhagen. In connection with the reconstruction of a silo for wood pellets, we have integrated a Monsun Fire Safety System in a MONSUN chain conveyor solution, placed in of 24 meters height, between an existing support tower and the new silo. The conveyor has a capacity of 600 t/h. The installation consists of support constructions and access routes around the conveyor. The conveyor can also emergency unload with its reversible function. The system is anti fire secured - with internal fire distinguishing equipment and a fire barrier, that effectively ensures that a fire does not spread through the conveyor. For distribution task to the plant silos we also have delivered a chain conveyor, equipped with specialized quick stop valve function for the explosion section inbetween a belt conveyor and the new chain conveyor. The solution also consists of the a catwalk system arround the conveyor, central aspiration equipment and staircase setup. Simultaneously, the outlet of the existing belt conveyor has been upgraded with coverage of belt sides and a scraper bottom that transports the dust to the outlet. The capacity of the system is 600 t/h. Apart from delivery of the machinery, Lachenmeier Monsun also carried out installation, commissioning and documentation tasks. Wood pellets replace coal In cooperation with Persolit A/S we have been awarded with a contract for establishment of a large scale project for DONG Energy's power plant in Studstrup, near Aarhus. We will here provide the solution for the transport of wood pellets from ship to storage silo with a capacity of 1.000 t/h. The total silo capacity is 100.000 m3. Transportation of bulk material from the storage silo to the day silo will have a capacity of 300 t/h. The power plant in Studstrup will use wood pellets for energy production as an alternative to coal. This is our largest project so far. Great emphasis is put on project management, as it has a high level of complexity. The project planning process is ongoing and the production of machinery and equipment proceeds according to project plan. The installation of the equipment will take place in the first quarter of 2015, so that DONG Energy, as scheduled, can take the plant into full operation in the Autumn of 2016. We are the supplier of quay side receiving hoppers, transport system, silo extraction, aspiration and sampler systems as well as various security systems. Our consortium partner Persolit A/S has the responsibility for the delivery of the steel structures, conveyor bridges, cladding and insulation. The requirements for system functionality and safety mean that all electrical components will be self-controlled and classified according to the ATEX directive. All support towers positioned between the conveyors are equipped with spark detection and fire distinguishing system. A comprehensive documentation is also part of the delivery. EFKO Group - one of Russia's leading producers of vegetable oil, fat and mayonnaise, is constructing a new, 33.000 m 3 soy flour storage in Taman in the Black Sea region. The company optimizes its soy meal handling system from the bulk storage to ship outloading. We have designed and installed a solution that consists of three 122 meter long chain conveyors, positioned at the bottom level of the storage as well as chain conveyors and a bucket elevator which are connected to an already existing conveying system. This customized solution enables bulk uploading with 500 t/h. Page 3 MONSUNnews - December 2014:03 of solutions that last In cooperation with a Polish contractor we will deliver a complete grain storage to one of Poland's largest, privately owned feed producers, Golpasz. The plant will be installed close to the highway, about 70 km south of Warsaw. It will have three intake lines, each with a capacity of 150 t/h. The total capacity of the silo plant is of 36,000 m3. At the moment, the project is one of our largest in Poland, and it will be ready for commissioning in the end of summer 2015. In addition to the equipment our scope of delivery also includes, installation, commissioning and documentation. When grain is delivered to the silo plant, which is closely connected to a feedmill which is being built on the same site, it can be tipped off from trucks into three intake lines. From there the operator of the plant will ensure that the grain is conveyed to the silos or one of the advanced systems for cleaning or drying of grain. Another option is to convey the grain directly to the feed mill via two chain conveyors. The operator has the option for conveying the grain into the silos via 150 different routes, whereas many of them can run simultaneously or independently of each other. For instance the intake system is able to handle barley in one intake pit, wheat in another, while simultaniously drying rape from the third intake pit. Kevili expands A year ago, we delivered a plant for the Kevili Agricultural Cooperative in Estonia. Now the company is expanding its facilities with a new flat storage facility of 10.000 tons. The storage, which can be used for storage of processed products as well as a buffer storage for the plant, is equipped with two belt conveyors, each with a capacity of 200 t/h. The two conveyors ensure an even grain distribution via an electrically operated throw-off carriage. With this enlargement Kevili still remains the plant that is designed according to the newest technological principles. Besides the new flat storage, the plant has a total silo capacity of 50.000 tons in 18 silos, where six of them are used as buffer and tempering silos. Cooperation in Naksov Nakskov Bulk Terminal is a result and a true example of the successfull and effective cooperation between all involved parties in the project - Lachenmeier Monsun, customer and suppliers. Together, in just 2,5 months, we succeeded in constructing Nakskov Bulk Terminal. Short communication ways as well as fast decisions by both the customer and us, made it possible. The flat storage is 2000 m 2 and has storage capacity of 12.000 tons of grain on the quay in Nakskov. The challenge here was the tight project deadline - the construction work on the buildings began in May 2014 and the scheduled delivery was at the begining of the harvest season 2014. We have delivered the intake and the conveying equipment that automatically fills up the storage with a capacity of 220 t/h. By the time, when this newsletter is issued, we have started the second phase of the project – outloading system to ships with a capacity of 300 t/h. >> read more on our casestories at www.lachenmeier-monsun.com Page 4 MONSUNnews - December 2014:03 One of Ukraine's leading manufacturers of edible oils - Private Enterprise Oliyar, has expanded its factory in Lviv. A new press, oil extraction plant and raw-material storage have been established. Our delivery includes screw conveyors, chain conveyors, bucket elevators - for the process plant as well as silos and conveying equipment for the raw material storage. The equipment used for handling of hot products in manufactured in stainless steel. In the second phase of expansion we have supplied silos with temperature control and sweep augers, a dryer with steam heating and dust separators as well as pre and fine cleaning system. The plant with a storage capacity of 34,000 m³ is designed for a daily production of 1.200 tons of sunflower seeds, 700 tons of soy beans, 1.000 tons of rape seed and 650 tons of sunflower seeds. Victor Petrunko – Technical Engineer at Private Enterprise Oliyar says: “Our company is fully satisfied with the quality and the execution of Lachenmeier Monsun` transportation equipment . In our latest projects - increase in production capacity and the construction of the new silos, only the Lachenmeier Monsuns´ equipment has been considered due to the high quality in product execution, installations and performance. During the whole project cycle, we have been very surpised of the degree of simplicity in oilseeds cleaning , drying and storage equipment installation (separators, dryers, silos). This factor played a crucial role in the whole plant construction process – resulting in fast project delivery. Lachenmeier Monsun is a trustfull partner in the construction process – represented by proffesionals, who promptly answered on all of our questions, and provided technical solutions that met all our requirements.” Customer's success is our succsess! Both in the Energy sector as well as in grain and feed industry we are facing the trend which goes towards the demand of bigger, longer, and higher machinery and equipment. At the same time, there is an increased focus on safety and very high uptime caused by the awareness, that even a couple of hours or days of outage in production will have a negative impact on the company's bottom line. These are the issues our construction and project development manager throughout 32 years - Esben Friis, is dealing with every day. And he likes it! Mainly because it is always challenging to deliver the bucket elevators, screw conveyors, belt and chain conveyors, grain dryers or filter systems, that challenges the limits and contributes to the customers success. Since 1952, we have designed and delivered plants that meet our customers' requirements. Therefore, we have a a very wide product portfolio today, that can satisfy the needs of both small and larg companies. In addition, we are known as a company with short reaction time in case of accidents. This is one of the benefits of having a large own production. In the energy sector the biofuels are replacing the traditional power generation materials such as coal etc. in increasing degree. As our company follow the trends in the market, we have introduced solutions that include spark detecting and fire distinguishing equipment as well as explosion panels. The focus here is to reduce the dust expansion from biofuels while our systems transport the material with capacities up to 1.200 t/h Shiploading in the energy sector and feed industry is a very exciting field to work with. It is also challenging to deliver a 24/7/360 runtime constructed angle chain conveyor that transport the material from a horizontal level and then raise it at an angle of 45-80 degrees with a capacity of 500 t/h. 'Meeting our customers' needs with customized solutions gives us all a professional kick', says Esben Friis.
