SUPPLEMENTARY SELF STUDY REPORT
PREFACE
Government Degree College was established in the year 1987 at
Chintalapudi, W.G. Dist. The College was affiliated to Andhra University. The
college was sanctioned vide G.O.M.S.No 313 Edn., Dated 15-12-1987. At the
beginning B.A. and B.Com courses were sanctioned in the year 1987 and
subsequently B.Sc courses (MPC&CBZ) were sanctioned in the year 1997 and
B.Sc, .B.Com and B.A computer courses were sanctioned in the year 2013. In its
maiden days the college was run under the roof of Govt. Junior College,
Chintalapudi, In 1999 it was shifted into the present place with the aid of the great
charitable hands of Sri Maddala Eliya and Sri Nandigam Vivekananda, who
donated 5.74acrs of land for the construction of the own building.
In Chintalapudi of West Godavari District, it being a Government
Educational Institution, a quite good number of various categories of students
such as economically backward, scheduled castes, Scheduled Tribes, backward
classes join this college to pursue higher studies. Since its inception the college has
been catering the educational needs of both men and women students of
Chintalapudi and its neighbouring villages. With dedicated principals and
committed staff, the college has been producing a good number of thousands of
graduates.
The college is well-known for its education, strict discipline and high
standards. Restructured courses were introduced keeping in view of the changing
trends in higher education and various opportunities for employment. Now the
college offers instruction in computers subject. Thus this Degree College is an
educational institution with distinctive characteristics.

VISION:
The Government Degree College, Chintalapudi has a vision of
transforming herself into a mighty symbol of an integrating force, pooling all the
diverse resources of global knowledge for unifying into a harmonious whole and
diffusing wisdom for a higher order of thinking.
MISSION: Quality enhancement of Higher Education being the primary goal of
all the Government Degree Colleges, the institution aims at expanding its
awareness through academic and social activities by taking conception, planning,
evaluation, and promotion and sustenance initiatives to secure better
employability. Their pre-occupation with the latest methodology and community
oriented training programmes with a special focus on reducing the Urban-rural
divide and inculcating core values of life among the youth, would enable them to
meet the requirements of the contemporary society departing from the traditional
path of approach in the teaching learning activity.

Promotion of Research: Institution encourages the research culture among the
lecturers and students. Students are involved in live study projects at the
Institution level. Regular lecturers are pursuing their research. At present Two
Ph.D and Four M.Phil Lecturers are in Teaching Faculty. Every student has to
participate in Project work.

INNOVATIVE PRACTICES
Plantation under NSS and Botany Department: NSS Unit and Botany
Department plant the saplings in the college and surrounding villages. Students
are educated about the importance of clean and green. Eco-Club is constituted in
the college for the protection of Environment.
Rain Water harvesting System: The Institution educates the students about the
importance of Water harvesting. Department of Botany, Physical Education and
Zoology take necessary action for the water harvesting in the college.
NO Vehicle Day:
No Vehicle day is observed on Fourth Tuesday of every
month. On this day motor vehicles are not allowed into the campus. Students are
educated about the environmental pollution. They are advised to reduce the use
of motor vehicles and to adopt eco friendly vehicles.
No Plastic Zone: The Institution is maintained as No Plastic Zone. It prefers the
use of eco friendly material on the campus. Plastic material such as Glasses,
Bottles, Tea-Cups and Carry-Bags are not allowed into the campus.
SWACH BHARATH: The Institution actively participates in SWACH BHARATH.
It conducts rallies and awareness camps about the importance of Clean & Green.
NSS Unit and Department of Botany educate the students at Institution level

BEST PRACTICES
MID DAY MEAL Program: The principal and staff contribute their own money
to provide Mid Day Meal to all the students in the College. As the college is
situated in rural area, It has observed that majority of the students are from poor
families who are unable to bring lunch boxes. So, the principal and staff made a
resolution to provide Mid Day Meal to the students. The principal and staff
voluntarily contribute to this program and invite contributions from local
philanthropists. The program has been running successfully since last academic
year and it helped the students to increase their pass percentage, regularity and
active participation in sports and games and in cultural activities. It is also helped
to increase the admissions of the college.
Teachers Evaluation by Students: Teachers are evaluated by the students in the
college. IQAC collects feedback from the students. Principal verifies and submits
to the Commissioner of Collegiate Education. At Institution Level the principal
suggests and recommends the lecturers according to the feedback.
Students conduct examination themselves: In the Institution students conduct
internal examination among themselves. One of the students acts as invigilator
and supervises the examination process. At the end he/she collects the answer
scripts and submits to the subject teacher. Convener of the College examination
committee monitors the procedure.
Bridge, Remedial and Summer Coaching: At the beginning of the academic year
bridge course is conducted. Students are given fundamental information about
the syllabus. During the academic year slow learners are identified and given

remedial coaching. Final year students are given coaching for the P.G CET and for
other entrance examinations in summer.

Yoga and Meditation: Department of Physical Education trains the student
towards Yoga and Meditation. Yoga helps the students to be physically strong

and Meditation helps them to be mentally strong. It is practiced twice in a week.
Resource persons in Yoga and Meditation are invited to the college.
Career Guidance to the students: Jawahar Knowledge Center and Career
Guidance Cell of the college give the students guidance about their career.
Students are informed of various notifications regarding higher education and
jobs. Jawahar Knowledge Center and Career Guidance Cell conducts career
guidance classes with the successful personalities in Civil Services, Group services
of Andhra Pradesh, banking sector and education sectors.
Short Term Vocational Certificate Courses: The Department of Physics has MoU
with local ITI College for the short term certificate course in “Domestic Electrical
Wiring”. The Department of Chemistry introduced Short Term Certificate Course
in “Domestic Home Needs”. Women Empowerment Cell and Department of
Botany are together conducting institution level Beautician Course.
Campus Selections: Jawahar Knowledge Center (JKC) and Career Guidance Cell
conduct Job Mela and prepare the students for the Campus Selections. Recently
JKC and Career Guidance Cell conducted a JOB MELA. 350 Members participated
and 129 members were selected. Few months ago two students were selected to
Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories.
Karate Training to Women Students: Women Empowerment Cell and Physical
Education Departments train up the women students in Karate for self defense.
