Henderson FrAn tArKenton 2009 MINNESOTA VIKINGS MAN OF THE YEAR Dear Minnesotans, For Minnesota Vikings fans and the entire Vikings organization, 2009 was a year to remember and was highlighted by one of the most exciting seasons in franchise history. With a 12-4 regular season record, our 2nd consecutive NFC North Division title and an appearance in the NFC Championship Game, we believe the Vikings took another step toward the ultimate goal of becoming a championship-caliber team built for longterm success. As excited as we are about the on-field success, please know that our goal of creating a championship organization in Minnesota transcends the boundaries of a football field and extends into the community. Austin, MN Philanthropy and commitment to community are core values of our family and the Vikings organization. We are passionate about combining our desire to make a difference in people’s lives with the Vikings rich history of civic involvement. Our players, coaches and staff volunteer their time each year to make a difference in the Minnesota community and that is a source of pride and inspiration for our ownership group. In addition to donating our time, the Vikings give generously to many charitable causes. Our devotion to giving continued this past year in several forms, such as the Minnesota Vikings Summer Lunch program, NFL Play 60, numerous children’s hospital visits and many other initiatives. Another vital component of our commitment to community is the Vikings Children’s Fund (VCF), the charitable arm of the organization for players, coaches, cheerleaders, staff and their families. The VCF allows the entire Vikings organization and our supporters to focus their support to help children. Since its inception in 1978, the VCF has raised more than $9 million and has donated more than $5 million to the University of Minnesota Department of Pediatrics. As dedicated members of the Minnesota community, we pledge to continue to use our influence to make a strong and direct impact in this great state. Building an NFL roster is an endless endeavor, and so too are our efforts to make a positive impact on the quality of life in our community. Marshall, MN Please enjoy reading about the wonderful ways the Minnesota Vikings have touched our community this past year. Thank you for your support! ALS Association of Minnesota Prior to the Chicago Bears game, Vikings owners Lenny Wilf, Mark Wilf and Zygi Wilf (L to R) presented ALS Association of Minnesota Executive Director Sue Spalding with a check for $10,000. The disease has impacted Vikings alumni Orlando Thomas and Wally Hilgenberg. Members of their respective families were on hand as part of the presentation. “The ALS Association appreciates not only the generosity of the Wilf family and the Minnesota Vikings for their financial support of those living with ALS, but the opportunity to spread ALS awareness to a greater audience throughout Minnesota and the country. The Minnesota Vikings support is key to helping us find a cause and cure for ALS,” said Spalding. They displayed a strong passion for giving back to the community as they encouraged the kids to get up and be active for at least 60 minutes per day. They’re on target with the YMCA’s effort to engage kids in active play to curb the increasing rate of childhood obesity. I applaud their effort to inspire kids to get more physically active.” – Mark Bjorlie, YMCA of Austin “We are proud of our partnership with the Minnesota Vikings for so many reasons. From the staff and players’ enthusiasm around the Vikings Children’s Fund Summer Lunch Program, to the excitement surrounding the Taste of the NFL, the Vikings organization as a whole is making a tremendous impact on the lives of our hungry neighbors. We look forward to continued success in the coming years.” – Dawn Marie Nelmark, Second Harvest Heartland Haiti Earthquake Relief Generous Vikings fans donated more than $7,500 to The Salvation Army “Haiti Relief Fund” prior to the Dallas Cowboys playoff game at Mall of America Field. “Vikings fans inspired us with an outpouring that helped us rush aid to Haiti,” said Major Darryl Leedom, Commander of the Twin Cities Salvation Army. “Brett Favre’s impact on our community has been tremendous, not only for his superb athletic prowess on the field, but also for the way he utilizes his opportunities off the field to work with organizations like the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Minnesota. He generously offers his time and understands the value that joy holds in the lives of our wish families.” – Barb Koch, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Minnesota “The Minnesota Vikings have been a valuable partner to the City of Brooklyn Park. The team has proven itself time and time again that it’s an inspiration on and off the field. From the players helping us build a brand new playground at Crest View Elementary, to tight end Visanthe Shiancoe taking the time to spend Christmas with local children, we know the Vikings are not just your ordinary professional sports team. It’s a world class organization that cares about its communities.” – Mayor Steve Lampi, City of Brooklyn Park “The Minnesota Vikings are a tremendous health and wellness partner. Midwest Dairy is active in schools because our dairy farmers are committed to teaching kids about good nutrition and being active. The Minnesota Vikings have the same commitment to the children of Minnesota. Through the ‘Eat Right, Get Movin’ with Viktor School Assembly Program, Viktor the Viking and his friends brought the healthy eating and activity messages of the ‘Fuel Up to Play 60’ program to more than 21,500 Minnesota students this school year. It’s a fun and educational way for the Vikings and Midwest Dairy to get Minnesota kids excited about physical activity and eating healthy.” – Mike Kruger, Midwest Dairy Association and Council 1 steve And LAndyn HUtcHinson Hosted tHe HoLidAys Vikings Children’s Fund “The Minnesota Vikings have been wonderful team members in the health and healing of our patients and families. The morale boost that our children and parents receive when the Vikings visit has an immense impact on their battles with illness. Thank you for your continued support.” – Aaron Friedman, M.D., Pediatrician-in-Chief, University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital A trAdition oF GivinG The Vikings organization will reflect on its past frequently in 2010 as the franchise celebrates its 50th season. What won’t be lost in this celebration, though, is the future. And the organization realizes the key to our future is the wellbeing of our children. Ben and Abby Leber continued to lead the season-long player and Vikings Women’s Organization (VWO) visits to the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital. Heath and Julie Farwell were regular participants as well. A crucial component to the Vikings commitment to community has been its work with children. In an effort to further emphasize its desire to making a positive difference in the lives of children, the Vikings organization established the Vikings Children’s Fund (VCF) in 1978. The VCF is a means for Vikings players, coaches, cheerleaders, staff and their families to focus their community support on helping children. Since its inception, the VCF has raised more than $9 million to give back to those in need. This past year, the VCF donated $205,000 to the University of Minnesota Department of Pediatrics, increasing the total support to more than $5 million. Eric Frampton, Husain Abdullah, Heath Farwell, Ben Leber, John Sullivan, Sage Rosenfels and VWO members posed for a photo before visiting the children. To learn more about the VCF – or to make a donation – please contact Patrick Leopold at (952) 828-6500. If your charitable organization is interested in applying for a VCF grant, log on to www.vikings.com to download a grant application form. 2 Pat Brown, Ian Johnson and Ben Leber met a young Vikings fan. For the fourth consecutive year, Pro Bowl offensive lineman Steve Hutchinson and his wife, Landyn, made the Holidays a little more enjoyable for children by hosting an early Thanksgiving meal as well as providing a Holiday meal and gifts for patients and families. SU M LUNCH PRO GR ER M A Summer Lunch Program M Vikings Children’s Fund The Vikings teamed up with Hunger Solutions Minnesota and Second Harvest Heartland to launch the Vikings Children’s Fund Summer Lunch Program in May. The program helped secure up to 200,000 additional free meals for Minnesota children this summer and the Vikings pledged $92,000 to the effort. The VCF Summer Lunch Program helped expand the USDA-sponsored Summer Food Service Program by approximately 14%, with the goal of serving 1.6 million meals. Ray Edwards, Tarvaris Jackson and Jayme Mitchell, along with Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Education Alice Seagren, kicked off the Vikings Summer Lunch program at Cityview Performing Arts Magnet School in Minneapolis. Second Harvest Heartland staff handed out free nutritious lunches at the King Center in Minneapolis. The youngsters participated in the Vikings/Jeff Robinson Youth Football Camp at the Center. The Summer Lunch Program culminated with a VIP visit to Vikings Training Camp to meet Ray Edwards, Adrian Peterson, John Sullivan and Madieu Williams. More than 200,000 meals were provided by the Minnesota Vikings in 2009. 3 VCF Special Events The Vikings Children’s Fund (VCF) is able to raise a large portion of its funds through fun, fan-oriented activities. The willingness of Vikings players, coaches, staff and executives to participate in these events, along with the passion and charitable spirit of Vikings fans, allows the VCF to remain generous in its commitment to benefiting children. “MillerCoors, our network of Miller Lite distributors and our retail partners are proud to partner with the Minnesota Vikings and Vikings Children’s Fund. We enthusiastically support the Vikings efforts to raise funds that benefit many great charities around the state of Minnesota and throughout the Upper Midwest.” – Derrick Smigiel, General Manager, Sales, MillerCoors Vikings Blitz Celebrity Server Dinner Antoine Winfield took part in the Vikings Blitz Celebrity Server Dinner at Wildfire Restaurant in Eden Prairie. The event raised money for the VCF and featured several Vikings players and Head Coach Brad Childress. Bowl with the Vikings 4 Garth Brooks Pat Williams, along with several teammates, Vikings alumni, Vikings cheerleaders and Viktor the Viking, spent an evening in November visiting with fans and bowling for charity at PINZ Entertainment Center in Oakdale. This past year’s event marked the 15th consecutive year the Vikings have bowled for charity. Vikings Children’s Fund Coordinator Patrick Leopold is recognized by country superstar Garth Brooks for the efforts of the VCF. Brooks awarded the VCF $18,000 through his Teammates for Kids Foundation. Ride For Life In July, the Vikings held their 15th annual Ride For Life Motorcycle Rally, as bikers from starting neighborhood locations all across the Twin City Metro Area rode 75 miles to Hinckley where they were greeted by Vikings personnel, cheerleaders and a welcome party featuring live music as well as food, beverages and prizes. VCF Special Events “Total Luxury Limousine is proud to partner with the Vikings organization. We share the commitment to the community and through the Vikings Children’s Fund, support the many needs of youth in our society.” Vikings Children’s Fund – Dave Murray, President, Total Luxury Limousine Golf Tournament The entire Vikings organization gathered at Rush Creek Golf Club in Maple Grove for the 2009 Minnesota Vikings Golf Tournament, an annual event that brings together alumni, cheerleaders, current coaches and players, staff and Viktor the Viking. The event features many on-course and post-event activities as well as food and beverages on Rush Creek’s patio and throughout the golf course. Pictured above are Vikings executives (L to R) Rob Brzezinski, Steve LaCroix, Lester Bagley, Steve Poppen and Rick Spielman. Taste of the NFL A highlighted and successful annual event during Super Bowl week, Taste of the NFL has raised more than $6.8 million for hunger relief since being established in Minnesota as part of Super Bowl XXVI. Many NFL cities and states, including Minneapolis and the Vikings, now host their own celebrity events during the football season to support this great cause. The Vikings 2009 local Taste of the NFL was held at International Market Square in November and featured appearances from Vikings alumni, players – including Kevin Williams – and cheerleaders, sample food from 14 top area restaurants, a silent auction and autograph sessions. Proceeds went directly to the Vikings Summer Lunch Program. Arctic Blast The 15th annual Minnesota Vikings Arctic Blast Snowmobile Rally, an event that features snowmobile giveaways, an ice fishing pond, outdoor BBQ and other special games and events at various “Blast Points,” was held at Lake Mille Lacs in February. Current and former Vikings players, along with the Vikings Cheerleaders, Viktor and team executives, joined fans and Vikings supporters at the event. Alumni Chris Doleman and Henry Thomas traded stories of battles in the NFL trenches with Defensive Line Coach Karl Dunbar. Coach Childress SATURDAY MEMORIES In 2009, Coach Childress continued his unique program of inviting children facing special circumstances and individuals who have gone above and beyond helping others to attend the private practice on Saturday morning. After watching practice and a hearty collection of autographs and pictures, Coach Childress spent time with each group and provided insights into the next day’s game. Star Hall In 2007, Star Hall was an innocent bystander when she was shot in the head by a stray bullet. The former youth basketball player was given little chance of survival, but through her determination and support of her family she continues to improve. Muscular Dystrophy Association Chris Kluwe greeted MDA State Ambassador J.R. Scanlan. Kluwe also supports Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy research through his “Kicks for a Cure” program. Orono Middle School The Salvation Army During the summer, Coach Childress donated 28 pairs of new shoes valued at more than $1,200 to preschoolers served by the St. Paul Salvation Army. “The best thing about this gift is that it came from out of the blue. Coach Childress decided he wanted to help and within days kids who seldom get more than hand-me-downs were running through the gymnasium with brand new Reeboks,” said Major Darryl Leedom, Commander of the Twin Cities Salvation Army. Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities Special Olympics Minnesota 7 Playground Vikings and Toro team up to build playgrounds and communities “Toro is proud to partner with the Minnesota Vikings and KaBOOM! on the playground project at Crest View Elementary. Building a playground is more than putting up a structure; it’s building a healthy community.” – Mike Hoffman, Chairman and CEO, Toro Company Vikings players and coaches spend much of the offseason building a team that will contend on the field. But each offseason they also take time from their schedules to build a more noble cause in a local community. In collaboration with KaBOOM!, more than 250 volunteers, including Vikings players, coaches, as well as the entire staff, joined forces to build a new and safe playground at Crest View Elementary School in the northwest suburb of Brooklyn Park. KaBOOM! is an organization that uses an innovative community-building model to bring together business and community interests to construct new playgrounds, skateparks, sports fields and ice rinks across North America. “I’m absolutely overwhelmed with the kindness and generosity that’s been displayed throughout this entire project. I want to thank Toro, and I want to thank the Vikings. Without them, this would not happen.” – Suzette Erickson, Principal, Crest View Elementary School The playground was designed by kids but was built entirely by volunteers in one day. It now provides hundreds of children at Crest View Elementary School and the Brooklyn Park community a safe place to play. Brad Childress The total cost of the construction of the playground was split between the Vikings and their community partner – Toro. 8 Vikings Owner/President Mark Wilf addressed the volunteers, staff and students at Crest View Elementary School before the build began. In the same place where an outdated and unsafe eyesore once stood, volunteers worked hard to put the finishing touches on the new playground structure that will provide children and students with a safe place to play. Vikings Head Athletic Trainer Eric Sugarman, VP of Finance/CFO Steve Poppen and VP of Sales and Marketing/CMO Steve LaCroix participated in the Vikings fourth annual playground build. Toro CEO Mike Hoffman and Vikings Owner/President Mark Wilf dug in with volunteers to help construct the new playground structure. Following the completion of the playground build, Brooklyn Park Mayor Steve Lampi thanked the crowd of Vikings coaches and players, staff, students and other volunteers for their hard work and dedication. Vikings Wide Receivers Coach George Stewart and Bernard Berrian posed in a funny picture with students at Crest View Elementary School while their fellow coaches and teammates constructed the new playground structure. Playground 2009 Jayme Mitchell, Kevin Williams and Bryant McKinnie joined three City of Brooklyn Park volunteers in a photo during the playground construction. Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator Leslie Frazier, Jeff Dugan and Steve Hutchinson transported a wooden bench from the construction area to its designated location during the June event. Minnesota Congressman Erik Paulsen, who represents Minnesota’s 3rd district in the U.S. House of Representatives, was present at the event’s closing ceremonies as the new playground structure was unveiled to Crest View Elementary School students. An overhead shot of the new playground structure at the conclusion of the event. 9 Veterans SUPPORTING OUR TROOPS The analogy of a football player being a “soldier” or a football game being a “war” is one we see often, but it’s also one the Vikings organization rejects. Although our players perform like warriors on game days, we recognize the men and women who risk their lives on a daily basis in the military are the true heroes. Jared Allen joined Giants linebacker Danny Clark, Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald Jr. and linebacker Will Witherspoon to take part in the 2009 NFL-USO Tour, an annual tradition in the NFL that was initiated more than 40 years ago. The Vikings enjoy being visited at practice by troops. DeAndre Wright, Asher Allen, Antoine Winfield and Benny Sapp thanked Air Force Tech. Sgt. Chuck Smisek and in return Smisek presented the group of players with a United States flag that he flew over Kirkuk, Iraq in honor of the Vikings. 10 Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator Leslie Frazier was reunited with veteran Marcus Kuboy, whom he met at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, DC, at a Vikings practice this past season. Kuboy also was able to meet defensive starters Kevin Williams and Cedric Griffin. Veterans Home Working with the Minnesota Department of Veterans of Foreign Wars State Commander Don Nix, Vikings alumni Pete Bercich, John Randle and Chuck Foreman played Bingo at the Veterans Home in Minneapolis. V A Medical Center Current players Fahu Tahi, John Sullivan and Jeff Dugan, along with Commander Nix, visited the V A Medical Center and provided a Vikings–themed area in the physical therapy unit. Community Outreach – Devoted to Volunteering For the third consecutive year, every player on the Vikings season-long 53-man roster participated in the team’s community outreach efforts. The Vikings receive thousands of requests each year from a wide range of worthy organizations and the players help as many people in the community as possible. From visiting hospitals, to building a playground at an elementary school, to assisting those in need at local shelters, Vikings players enjoy bringing smiles to others but also take seriously the responsibility that comes with being a Minnesota Viking. Make-A-Wish Foundation Prior to joining the Vikings, quarterback Brett Favre had granted more than 200 Make-A-Wish experiences. He continued that commitment in 2009, bringing smiles to many children and encouraging them to maintain their positive attitude. Christa and Jim Kleinsasser served as co-chairs for the Make-A-Wish gala “Wish Ball” in 2009. Jim and Christa have been longtime supporters of Make-AWish of Minnesota. Chad and Jenni Greenway will serve as co-chairs for the “Wish Ball” in 2010. NFL Grass Roots Field Program In 2009, Jasper Brinkley and Asher Allen helped dedicate a new field house at South High School’s Les Barnard Field in Minneapolis. The Vikings, through the NFL’s “Grass Roots” program, contributed $50,000 toward the building. Joining in the celebration were Vikings VP of Public Affairs Lester Bagley, State Representative Jim Davnie and other community and school leaders. Boy Scouts Jon Cooper, Phil Loadholt and Ian Johnson hosted a youth football clinic and promoted the NFL Play 60 message to 100 scouts and their leaders in the Winter Park Field House. 11 Community Outreach – Devoted to Volunteering St. Joseph’s Home for Children Vikings NFL Play 60 Challenge spokesperson John Sullivan, longtime supporter of St. Joseph’s Home for Children Tarvaris Jackson, teammates Sidney Rice, Albert Young, J.D. Several players, including Jaymar Johnson, joined in the action. Children’s Miracle Network Sidney Rice led a group of teammates to visit young patients at Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare through the Children’s Miracle Network. Joining Sidney were Benny Sapp, Derrick Roberson, Brian Daniels, Kenny Onatolu, Roderick Rogers, John Sullivan and Fred Evans. Second Harvest Heartland Food Bank For the second consecutive year, Bernard Berrian donated 500 turkeys to inner-city families in the Twin Cities as part of his Thanksgiving outreach with Second Harvest Heartland Food Bank. Chester Taylor also joined in the festivities. 15 Community Outreach Community Outreach – Devoted to Volunteering Operation Christmas Child Ronald McDonald House Cheerful Givers Milkweed Editions Sweet Dreams for Kids The Vikings collaborated with four nonprofits in the fall, culminating with a player event at the Ronald McDonald House. Fans donated school supplies prior to the Kansas City game. The collected items were packaged in shoe boxes donated by Vikings Equipment Manager Dennis Ryan and stored at the Operation Christmas Child warehouse. In late November Tyrell Johnson, Artis Hicks, Colt Anderson, Jon Cooper, Garrett Mills and Kenny Onatolu, along with families staying at the Ronald McDonald House, packed additional items into the shoe boxes—including books from Milkweed Editions and pajamas from Sweet Dreams for Kids—to be shipped around the world to needy children by Operation Christmas Child. 16 The Vikings partnered with Cheerful Givers to pack 300 birthday gift bags with toys, books and treats for less fortunate families in the area. Darius Reynaud, Ryan Cook, Cullen Loeffler and Fred Evans participated in the event. Cheerful Givers was founded with the belief that every child deserves to be recognized on their birthday. Community Outreach – Devoted to Volunteering Planet Purple Greg Lewis was joined by students from Jenny Lind School during a treeplanting activity at Bohanon Park in Minneapolis. It was part of the Vikings Planet Purple initiative that dedicated a week to environmental awareness. Bryant McKinnie, Sage Rosenfels, John Sullivan, Greg Lewis, Vinny Perretta and Jamarca Sanford participated in an all–school rally promoting environmental awareness at Jenny Lind School prior to the tree-planting activity. Planet Purple Jamarca Sanford and a group of students put the finishing touches on one planted tree during the Planet Purple activity outside of Jenny Lind School. The Vikings purchased more than 100 trees that were planted at the event. “Being involved in the communities in which we do business and especially with the kids in those communities is a fundamental part of who we are as a company. Through our partnership with the Minnesota Vikings, we are proud to host this great event.” Sports Authority-Shop With A Viking – Greg Waters, Chief Operating Officer, Sports Authority Visanthe Shiancoe, along with teammates Ray Edwards, Vinny Perretta and Sidney Rice, took Liberian children from A-Mon-Nue Sports Association on a shopping spree at the Sports Authority in Eden Prairie. The Sports Authority donated $100 gift cards to each youngster and the players added an additional $200 out of their own pocket for each youngster. 17 In addition to our charitable outreach, the Minnesota Vikings are pleased when asked by different organizations to use our popular platform to bring visibility to various causes. Public Service Announcements and advertising campaigns are two of the avenues that accomplish this for various nonprofit and civic organizations. Civic Support In 2009, Madieu Williams helped promote the United Way’s message to Live United. Madieu was selected for this campaign because of the fact that he DOES Live United. Williams recently built a school in his hometown of Freetown, Sierra Leone in memory of his mother. In addition, Madieu pledged $2 million to the University of Maryland toward global health initiatives. Locally, Madieu partners with the North Community YMCA Youth and Teen Enrichment Center. Governor’s Fishing Opener Letroy Guion participated in the 2009 Governor’s Fishing Opener on White Bear Lake and through the Minnesota Department of National Resources youth fishing program delivered fishing advice to young anglers. Holidazzle Parade Sidney Rice and Ben Leber have participated several times in the annual Vikings Adoption Family Fun Fest and in 2009 helped promote the Children’s Home Society and Family Services “Little Red Stocking” billboard campaign to promote adoption. Pictured with Taylor Mehlhaff are State Representatives Joe Atkins and Leon Lillie. 18 Defensive Line Coach Karl Dunbar, brought two of his stars—Pat Williams and Ray Edwards—to downtown Minneapolis to serve as Celebrity Grand Marshals for the Holidazzle Parade in support of the Minneapolis Downtown Council. “We appreciate working with the Vikings, an organization that is committed to community events. Their participation in Target Holidazzle was a special experience for the community.” said Leah Wong, VP Events and Marketing, Minneapolis Downtown Council. Ryan Longwell recorded a national radio Public Service Announcement for Operation Christmas Child which hand delivers shoe boxes filled with school supplies, toys and necessity items to hurting children around the world. E.J. HENDERSON Man of the Year E.J. Henderson has progressed from a second round pick in 2003 to a team leader and middle linebacker on one of the NFL’s top defenses. During that time, Henderson has also been an active member of the team’s outreach and he’s established himself as a leader off the field and in the community. In recognition of his commitment to community, Henderson was named the Minnesota Vikings 2009 Community Man of the Year. In recognition of his community service, E.J. Henderson was presented the 2009 Minnesota Vikings Community Man of the Year award by Vikings Executive Director of Community Relations Brad Madson. Henderson was active in the community early in his career, volunteering his time with local organizations such as the United Way, Police Athletic League, Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, Arc Greater Twin Cities and Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities. But Henderson took his volunteerism to a new level in June of 2007, when he established the E.J. Henderson Youth Foundation to benefit underserved Twin Cities urban youth, an effort that was aided by a $100,000 personal donation. The Foundation’s programming centers on the mind, body and soul by providing academic enrichment, intensive physical workouts and life skill sessions at its facility in Eden Prairie. E.J. is also a strong spokesperson for the NFL’s “Play60” message, which encourages youngsters to be active for at least 60 minutes a day. E.J., along with his brother Erin, distributed 500 turkeys to needy families at Cub Foods on West Broadway in North Minneapolis. This past summer during Vikings Training Camp in Mankato, Henderson invited athletes from the E.J. Henderson Youth Foundation onto the field following practice to meet other Vikings players and chat about their progress. Viktor the Viking, Fred Evans, E.J. Henderson, Bryant McKinnie and Tremaine Johnson posed with youngsters from United Way agencies as part of the United Way “Hometown Huddle.” The Vikings, through NFL Charities, contributed $10,000 toward a new Vikings-themed Fitness Zone at Henderson’s Youth Foundation facility in Eden Prairie. 19 Youth Football North Minneapolis HSPD Local NFL/Vikings 7 on 7 HSPD In 2009, more than 2,000 young people were impacted by Vikings Youth Football programming. In addition, our collaboration with the Minnesota Football Coaches Association allowed us to reach hundreds more in Greater Minnesota. It can be stated that no team sport provides the life lessons that football does. Vikings High School Player Development Camps are designed to focus on academic counseling, accountability both to yourself and your teammates and specific football skill training by position.
