The Winter Solstice December 21
By Janet Mitsui Brown
Today is the winter solstice here
in Los Angeles, the moment in time
when the northern hemisphere is
at its furthest distance from the
sun. And as I did my seasonal
shopping I noticed it was chillier
and night arrived earlier than usual
– of course, the sun is just too far
away today.
But, from tomorrow the days
will get longer and progressively
warmer until June 21, the summer
solstice. So as you can see, the
yin of the winter will change progressively to the yang once again,
as the sun travels slowly closer to
the northern hemisphere.
The winter solstice has been a
turning point in several cultures,
and to me it is the point of departure from yin to yang, and a symbol of the environment’s natural
balance system. And this balance
also pertains to mankind – that is,
that when life appears at its lowest (yin) there is always a turning
point. The late Professor Lin Yun
(aka His Holiness Grandmaster
Professor Lin Yun), the head of
Black Sect Esoteric Buddhism
Feng Shui, professed this guidance in his teaching, also articulating that man/woman need to
practice patience, and continued
mindful practice, for the change to
take place.
It’s important to take note of this
constant change. We have our

Vanessa Simmons’ ‘Hollywood

‘Orange Is The New Black’ Actress Diane Guerrero
To Write Memoir On Family’s Deportation
Fox News Latino
Diane Guerrero wants to change
other people’s lives by sharing
her family’s immigration story that
ended with her parent’s deportation when she was 14.
Henry Holt and Company announced Thursday that the Colombian-American actress is working
on a memoir that is scheduled to
be released in early 2016.
The book will be called “In the
Country We Love” and will tell
Guerrero’s story of when her parents and older brother were taken
from their home in Boston by immigration services in 2000.
The “Orange is the New Black”
actress revealed her parents’ story
last month in an op-ed for the Los

Breaking Glass Pictures acquires
the feature film, “Hollywood Chaos,” for worldwide distribution and
is set to release in February 2015.
“Hollywood Chaos” stars Hollywood starlet Vanessa Simmons
(Host of Lifetime’s Project Runway: Threads).
Simmons makes her lead role
debut with the feature film, “Hollywood Chaos.” Her previous acting credits include television movies “Dysfunctional Friends” and
“Worst. Prom. Ever.,” among other
films and television shows, such
as MTV’s Daddy’s Little Girls and
Run’s House.
“Hollywood Chaos” also stars Tyler Lepley from the cast of Tyler
Perry’s The Haves & The Have
Nots, airing on the Oprah Winfrey
Network. Lepley plays Simmons
love interest in “Hollywood Chaos”
and delivers a charismatic performance, according to the film’s
casting director, Angela Marie

“Vanessa was my absolute first
choice for the role. She delivers
an engaging and memorable performance alongside an incredibly
talented ensemble cast,” Hutchinson says. “In other films that I have
cast, convincing the producers that
a certain actor or actress is right for
a role can be a challenge, but not

this time around,” since Hutchinson not only wrote the screenplay,
but also produced the film.
The film’s behind-the-scenes
featurette gives insight into the
production process and advises
filmmakers. Hutchinson encourages filmmakers to never give
up on pursuing their dreams. Ten
years ago, she first came up with
the concept for “Hollywood Chaos”
while browsing inside a Blockbuster with her mother during college
spring break.
Weeks later after graduating from
the University of Michigan with an
Industrial & Operations engineering degree, Hutchinson drove
alone cross country from Chicago
to relocate to LA. She worked
in the entertainment industry for
several years before deciding to
produce the script that she once
had in the back seat of her former
’94 Geo Tracker during her crosscountry road trip.
In the movie “Hollywood Chaos,”
Simmons plays the character of
Alexis Burns, a naïve entertainment reporter who is so desperate
for a promotion that she exposes
the secret lifestyles of her celebrity friends. When she realizes the
consequences of airing her TV
special, she is torn between moving up in her career and damaging
her friendships.

“My real story is this: I am the citizen daughter of immigrant parents
who were deported when I was
14,” she wrote. “My parents came
here from Colombia during a time
of great instability there. Throughout my childhood I watched my
parents try to become legal but
to no avail. They lost their money
to people they believed to be attorneys, but who ultimately never
helped.”
The 28-year-old actress said that
her biggest fear were realized
when she was 14 and returned
from school to an empty house.
“Lights were on and dinner had
been started, but my family wasn’t
there,” Guerrero wrote. “Neighbors
broke the news that my parents
had been taken away by immigration officers.”
The actress, who appears on the
hit CW show “Jane the Virgin,” revealed that it was through the help
of friends that she was able to survive the ordeal. She continued to
live in the U.S., attending the Boston Arts Academy high school.
In an interview with CNN shortly
after publishing the op-ed, Guerrero said she thinks about that day
all the time. She said she visits
her family once a year but that is
tough.

NOTICE TO POTENTIAL BIDDERS: If you are considering

free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be
aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien.
If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may
be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being
auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property.
You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and
size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance company,
either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you
consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the
same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust
on this property.
NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown on
this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the

the note(s) secured by said Deed of Trust, with interest
thereon, as provided in said note(s), advances, if any, under

TO POTENTIAL BIDDERS: If you are considering bidding on
this property lien, you should understand that there are risks
involved in bidding at a trustee auction. You will be bidding on
a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a
trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and
clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that
the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the
highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for
paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before
you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged
to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding
liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county
recorder’s office or a title insurance company, either of which
may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either
of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender
may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown
on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by
the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that
information about trustee sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale. If you wish to learn whether your sale date has
been postponed, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and
date for the sale of this property, you may call, 916-939-0772

this property lien, you should understand that there are risks
involved in bidding at a Trustee auction. You will be bidding
on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at
a Trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and
clear ownership of the property.
If you consult either
of these resources, you should be aware that the same Lender
may hold more than one mortgage or Deed of Trust on the
property. Notice to Property Owner The sale date shown on
this Notice of Sale may be postponed one or more times by the
Mortgagee, Beneficiary, Trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section
2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about Trustee Sale postponements be made available to
you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the
sale. If you wish to learn whether your sale date has been postponed, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the
