General Questions Is silicon (Si) an essential trace element? Compared with other trace elements, the outstanding significance of silicon (Si) for the health of more highly developed organisms was recognised rather late. It was only in the 70’s that Professor Edith Muriel Carlisle, a pioneer in the area of silicon (Si) research, proved that the substance is indispensable for animals. Today, we know that silicon (Si) also assumes a multitude of vitally important functions in the human body. Silicon, silicon dioxide, silicic acid - what are we talking about? Silicon (Si) the trace element mainly occurs along with other substances e.g. oxygen. This compound is known as “silicon dioxide” – SiO2. The compound of silicon (Si), oxygen and water is called “silicic acid”- SiO2 xnH2O - which can be more easily absorbed by the human body than silicon dioxide. What are the special quality characteristics of Silicea products? The quality of products containing silicon (Si) depends on the usability of the trace element for humans. Thus: the smaller the silicic acid molecule complex (silicic acid: compound of silicon (Si) with oxygen and water) is in the products, the better they can be absorbed by the human body. The silicic acid gel in Silicea products is manufactured in a special process. A colloid is formed, a gel-like liquid, in which silica is very finely distributed. Do Silicea products for internal application contain preservatives or substances of animal origin? Silicea products for internal application are of a pure mineral nature. They consist of pure silicic acid gel and are free of sugar, lactose, gluten and gelatine. On the positive side: They do not contain preservatives thus, they are particularly well tolerated. Since Silicea Gel contains no substances of animal origin, it is also suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Are there risks or side-effects in the internal application of Silicea? As the silicon (Si) contained in Silicea products is naturally present in humans, side-effects in the recommended dosages and applications mentioned in the package leaflet of the Silicea products are unknown. ANTON HÜBNER GmbH & Co. KG • 79236 Ehrenkirchen, Germany • www.huebner-vital.com How should Silicea products for internal application be stored? As Silicea products, which were developed for internal application, do not contain preservatives, these should be stored in a refrigerator at four to eight degrees Celsius after opening. Please observe the remarks for the storage period on the pack. Where can Silicea products be obtained? You can find Silicea products in all health food shops as well as in pharmacies. To find a shop closed to your home town please contact your local distributor. http://www.huebner-vital.de/en/svc-händlersuche.html About the product Original Silicea Balsam Original Silicea Balsam: Why does silicic acid gel support the regeneration of skin, hair and nails particularly well when it is applied internally? In the human body, the binding of water in the cells is a particularly necessary prerequisite for many metabolic processes. An adequate water balance guarantees that the cells receive sufficient nutrients. Silicon (Si) is significant for the formation of connective tissue structures. It supports the formation of the connective tissue fibres collagen and elastin. In doing so, it supports the build-up and the moisture balance of connective tissue. This becomes more taut and elastic, and the upper skin layers, the hair and nails are sufficiently provided with nutrients and vital substances via the connective tissue and remain healthy. Does silicon (Si) only have a positive effect on skin, hair, and nails? The bones and cartilage also profit from the strengthening of the connective tissue as a result of the additional administration of silicon (Si). Original Silicea Balsam: Would silicon (Si) be helpful during pregnancy? Especially in pregnancy, the connective tissue is strongly stretched. In connection with a connective tissue weakness or a big increase in weight at the stomach, hips, buttocks and breasts, unattractive stretch marks can occur. Silicon (Si) strengthens the connective tissue fibres collagen and elastin and can thus prevent these marks. The hair and nails also appreciate receiving an extra portion of silicon (Si) before and, in particular, after pregnancy. ANTON HÜBNER GmbH & Co. KG • 79236 Ehrenkirchen, Germany • www.huebner-vital.com Why should pregnant women and children take the gel only after consultation with the doctor? The preparation contains silicon dioxide as the active substance in a colloidal pharmaceutical form. Apart from silica and water, no other content substances are contained, i.e. no additives or excipients such as, for example, dyes or preservatives. There is, in principle, nothing against taking silica gel in the prescribed dosage during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as even the WHO has classified the administration of silicon dioxide as not dangerous and there are numerous studies which show that it is non-toxic and not teratogenic. However, since HÜBNER has no investigative data of its own with regard to pregnancy / breastfeeding, it is recommended to agree on the administration with the treating doctor in these cases. Obligatory text Original Silicea Balsam Active ingredient: silicic acid gel with precipitated, dispersed colloidal silicon dioxide Indications: Traditional use: take internally to prevent brittle fingernails and hair and to strengthen the connective tissue; apply externally for circumscribed local irritation of the skin. This information is based solely on standard practice and years of experience. Can the product be taken with beverages other than water? The prescribed method of application is either to take the gel as it is from the measuring spoon followed by drinking, or stirred into water– this is the optimum method of application. However, you can also stir the gel into a glass of juice or juice mixed with water. This preparation should be ingested immediately after stirring in the gel. Why should the gel be taken between meals? Due to the high binding capacity of colloidal silicic acid, an interaction with other nutrients and active substances cannot, in principle, be excluded. Even though scientific proof may not be available on this up until now, HÜBNER recommends not taking Original Silicea Balsam at meals as a preventative measure (also not together with other medicines), but approx. 1 - 2 hours before or after eating. Can the gel be taken with other medicine? Original Silicea Balsam is a traditional medicine which has been registered by the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) for which no side-effects and contraindications have been described. ANTON HÜBNER GmbH & Co. KG • 79236 Ehrenkirchen, Germany • www.huebner-vital.com Also, no interactions in connection with other medicines are known to HÜBNER. If any other medicines are being taken, HÜBNER recommends, however, that the use of Original Silicea Balsam is agreed with the treating doctor as a precautionary measure. How long should Original Silicea Balsam be used? Natural beauty does not occur overnight: a fingernail needs half a year until it has completely grown again, the skin requires 28 days for regeneration and hair grows little more than one centimetre per month. Our recommendation: take at least a three-month’s Silicea cure treatment one to two times per year. Then you will have an ample supply of the trace element. The application of Original Silicea Balsam is not limited in terms of time. Why the application of Silicea Gastro-Intestinal Gel cannot replace the intake of Original Silicea Balsam In order for silicon (Si) to enter the connective tissue, it must be taken up in the intestine and absorbed. This requires a very fine distribution of the active substance. In the medical device Silicea Gastro-Intestinal Gel, the active substance is present in a decisively high concentration, which hardly permits absorption. This is not necessary, as the mode of action of the Silicea Gastro-Intestinal Gel is totally different: the natural binding strength of silicon (Si) acts in the relatively high active substance concentration like a sponge. This fully absorbs the bacteria causing the complaint and their poisonous metabolic products and binds them. The detrimental substances are thus eliminated according to the physical principle of action and excreted via the intestine. Further areas of application Why is silicon (Si) often recommended for arthrosis? The pharmaceutical approval of silica preparations in Germany is limited to the strengthening of the connective tissue; more extensive and other indications – for example the application in rheumatic and arthritic pain – are not legally permitted. Nevertheless, the strengthening of the connective tissue with Original Silicea Balsam is also a good recommendation for persons with arthrosis, as joints, tendons and cartilage consist of connective tissue. Original Silicea Balsam: Why is silica gel also suitable for external application? Silicic acid gel binds pathological germs and wound secretions and thus promotes healing. Applied externally, Original Silicea Balsam is highly suitable for the treatment and regeneration of smaller wounds, infections, slight burns and sunburn, as well as other skin irritations. The gel is pure mineral and does not contain additives, and this is why it is highly compatible for sensitive skin. ANTON HÜBNER GmbH & Co. KG • 79236 Ehrenkirchen, Germany • www.huebner-vital.com What should be observed for the external application? During the application to larger skin areas, it is recommended to apply the gel diluted with water. If it is applied pure, it can simply be rinsed off with warm water if a feeling of tautness of the skin occurs (depending on the skin type). This type of application can be repeated as often as possible every day, as necessary. Special features Products in convenient form – sachet Silicea products available in sachet are designated for direct intake but can also be ingested with water or tea. Why is the consistency sometimes relatively thin? There is a natural margin of fluctuation, which, however, has nothing to do with the efficacy of the product. Even when the gel is somewhat thinner than usual, it is still 100% effective! The efficacy of the product depends on the silica and not on the viscosity. Why inorganic? Quality, performance and use of silicon (Si) or silica preparations are not determined by the properties organic/inorganic. "Organic" is also not a clearly defined term. In the natural scientific areas, for example, it is understood and used in a completely different way to general linguistic use or in the mass media. The designation “organic silica” refers to the organic chemistry and is not to be confused with eco/organic products e.g. from organic cultivation. According to scientific practice, the active substance is to be assigned to the inorganic substances, as silicon (Si) is not present as a hydrocarbon compound. ANTON HÜBNER GmbH & Co.
