38 Annual
Rites of Spring Tournament
May 2, 2015
th
Baltimore-Chesapeake is inviting all interested rugby clubs to the 38 Annual Rites
of Spring 10’s Tournament in Baltimore, Maryland on May 2nd. This invitation is for all
interested men and women teams of all ages.
Tournament Form
In the past the tournament consisted of both Men’s & Women’s teams, from both the
senior and college levels. There will be trophies awarded to teams depending upon the outcomes
of the final games and upon the number of divisions.
Match Rules
All games will be played with 10 players a side, and the length of each game will be two
20-minute halves (5-minute halftime). Advancing teams in each bracket will be based upon:
wins, highest point differential, most points scored, most number of tries, and most number of
conversions made. All players participating must be CIPP’d with USA Rugby.
In the event of a tie during pool play and semi-finals, a 10-minute sudden death period
will be allowed with no halftime. In the event of a tie after sudden death, the winning team will
be determined by the number of tries scored and then penalty kicks. Kicks will be taken by one
member of each team from 15 meters away from the goal line from anywhere within the crossbar
space at the players choosing. After each successful kick, the spot is moved 10 meters back until
one team misses. If both teams miss then the kick is again placed at the same spot until one team
misses. All Championship games will be determined by two 10-minute sudden death periods, at
which point, a 5 minute break will be given after each period.
If a team, due to injuries, cannot field 10 players for any match, they will be allowed to
seek out players from another team. Teams may use a player that is currently CIPP’d with
another club. The tournament Director has the final say in all discrepancies.
