‘Attack Team’ Whips Triway and Orrville In O.Y.W.A. Duals Season Finale
The Holmes Area Wrestling Club ‘Attack Team’ completed another undefeated dual meet season Sunday, January 11 with a
101 – 47 thrashing of Wooster Triway before pounding Orrville 90 -24 in Ohio Youth Wrestling Association Mid-Ohio
Division action at Waynedale High School in Apple Creek, Ohio.
Winning wrestlers for the ‘Attack Team’ were Peyton Martin, Aaj Roberts, Garrett Sampsel, Mason Taylor, Caleb Larimore,
Logan Vansickle, Jack Welsh, Camden Larimore, Zeke Galbraith, Maverick Rickly, Chaz Kerr, Grady Toye, Blake Norman,
Beau Norman, Matthew Trukovich, Cai Roberts, Noah Tish, Dylan Strouse, Nick Ginsberg, Kalan Bowling-Cappadony,
Tucker Kaufman, Payton Rouse, Conner Varnes, Curtis Sampsel, Josh Carter, Elisha Baldridge, Gabe Knapp, Gavin Greer
and Stephen Baldridge.
Following the wins over the Titans and Red Riders, the ‘Attack Team’ finishes their O.Y.W.A. Mid-Ohio Division dual meet
season with a 7 – 0 mark, 8 – 0 overall. Since the 1999 – 2000 season, the ‘Attack Team’ is now 139 – 10 in dual meets.
The ‘Attack Team’ will next be in action Sunday, January 18 when they host the inaugural ‘O.Y.W.A. Mid-Ohio Division

Call For Home Tourney Volunteer Workers Continues
January began a busy month of West Holmes wrestling hosting tournaments.
That busy month continues with this Saturday’s, January 17, ‘2015 Knights Middle School Invitational Tournament’,
followed the next day, Sunday, January 18, with the ‘2014 O.Y.W.A. Mid-Ohio Division Varsity Tournament’.
The stretch of home tournaments carries on Saturday, January 24 with the ‘2015 West Holmes/United States Marine Corp
Varsity Invitational Tournament’ and wraps up Sunday, February 1 with the ‘2015 O.Y.W.A. Mid-Ohio Division Sectional
Championship Tournament’.
And that means volunteer help to conduct the tournaments is needed.
West Holmes wrestling has earned a reputation for conducting efficient and well-run tournaments over the years. And, that is
directly contributed to the many volunteer workers who have, and continue, to volunteer their time.
With various levels of West Holmes wrestling competing the same day as the home tournaments, volunteer help will be
greatly needed.
Those wishing to volunteer as workers for any or all of the tournaments should contact West Holmes wrestling head coach

Practices, Tournaments and Duals On Tap This Week
The upcoming week will be extremely busy for West Holmes wrestling with dual meets and tournaments on tap for the high
school and middle school squads, while the ‘Attack Team’ wrestlers will host a tournament.
On the mat action will see both the high school and middle school team’s travel Wednesday, January 14 to Indian Valley
High School in Gnadenhutten, Ohio for a triangular meet against Navarre Fairless and the host Braves.
In last seasons varsity match-up between the Knights and Braves it was no contest, as W.H.H.S. scalped Indian Valley by a
70 – 6 count. The meeting between the Knights and Falcons will be the first dual meet between both teams since the 1980’s
when both school were members of the old Ohio Athletic Conference/Ohio Athletic League.
The middle school lost years dual to the Braves by a 62 – 24 count. And, like they’re older counterparts, the dual with
Navarre Fairless will be the first between the two schools in decades.
Wrestling at Indian Valley begins at 6:00 p.m.
The weekend will be very busy as the high school team battles Friday and Saturday, January 16 & 17, in the ‘29th Annual
ASICS Top Gun Invitational Tournament’ at Alliance High School in Alliance, Ohio.
The meat-grinder of a tournament saw last years team place 31st of 42-teams after placing no wrestlers in the top-eight. This
years tournament will be no easier as 48-teams are in the field – host Alliance, Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary, AustintownFitch, Beloit West Branch, Canal Fulton Northwest, Carrollton, Chardon, Chesterland West Geauga, Cincinnati La Salle,
Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit, Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, Dover, Delaware Buckeye Valley, Delaware Hayes,
Eaton, Mogadore Field, Fort LeBouef (PA), Huntington (WV), Lakewood, Loudonville, Louisville, Marlington, Marysville,
Massillon Jackson, Massillon Perry, Mentor, Middletown, Minerva, Nordonia, North Canton Hoover, Olentangy, Olentangy
Orange, Painesville Riverside, Pickerington North, Piqua, Poland Seminary, Portage Southeast, Princess Anne (VA),
Ravenna, Strongsville, Trinity Area (PA), Uhrichsville Claymont, Uniontown Lake, Wapakoneta, Wooster Triway,
Worthington Kilbourne, Youngstown Boardman, and the Knights.
Wrestling begins Friday at 9:30 a.m. and resumes Saturday at 8:30 a.m. Championship finals are at 5:00 p.m.
The middle school team will get to wrestle in familiar surroundings Saturday, January 17 as they host the ‘2015 Knights
Middle School Invitational Tournament’ beginning at 10:00 a.m. in ‘The Dungeon’ at West Holmes High School near
Millersburg, Ohio.
The host Knights welcome to this year’s tournament teams from Apple Creek Waynedale/John R. Lea, Bellville Clear Fork,
Belmont Union Local, Canal Fulton Northwest, Carrollton, Creston Norwayne, Dover, Magnolia Sandy Valley, Mansfield
Madison, Massillon Tuslaw, and West Salem Northwestern.
The Knights placed 6th of 13-teams in last year’s edition of the tournament. Tyler Zupancic is the only returning placer for
W.H.M.S.. ‘Zupo’ placed 3rd last year.
The ‘Attack Team’ wrestlers will be busy this weekend as the ‘2015 Ohio Youth Wrestling Association Mid-Ohio Division

Rohskopf 3 – 1 This Week For N.C. State; Cox, Mullet and Miller Compete For Muskingum University
Max Rohskopf, a 2013 W.H.H.S. graduate and three-time state placer (3rd in ’13, 7th in ’12 and ’11) and four-time state
qualifier for the Knights, enjoyed a successful week on the mats finishing 3 – 1 in dual meet action for North Carolina State
University.
The NCAA Division I No. 15 nationally ranked 165 lbs. sophomore dominated his opponents Sunday, January 11 at the ‘Pitt
Duals’ in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania finishing 3 – 0 on the day including two fall wins, the first coming at a quick :49.
However, Rohskopf’s week didn’t start well as he dropped a hard-fought 3 – 2 decision to Jake Faust (Duke University), a
former Ohio high school state placer and Lexington High School graduate plus close friend of Rohskopf’s, when the A.C.C.
schools battled Wednesday, January 7 at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Rohskopf is now 20 – 6 with 3 fall wins this season for the Wolfpack.
2014 West Holmes High School graduates Caleb Cox, Zach Mullet and Grayson Miller were in competition for Muskingum
University wrestling Saturday, January 3 at the ‘2015 Waynesburg College Invitational Tournament’ at Waynesburg College
in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania
The former Knights wrestlers had a rough tournament as Cox (Fr., 174 lbs.) and Miller (Fr., 285 lbs.) both finished the
tournament with 1 – 2 records. Mullet (Fr., 197 lbs.) finished 0 – 2 for the Muskies.
Miller is currently 3 – 8 on the season with 1 fall win, while Mullet is 1- 8 and Cox 1 – 7.
