Conference Hispanic Ministries Department. Baby
Camila is also the
granddaughter of
Rev. Fernando
Angulo & wife
Maria, AND Revs.
Luis & Liliana Avila!
It is the nature of life to come to the end of things. The day ends, the week ends, the year ends,
work ends, rest ends, laughter ends, tears end, feasting ends, fasting ends, life ends, and
relationships end. But with the end of one thing is the beginning of another. The end of the night
is the beginning of the day, the end of a day’s labor is the beginning of rest, and the end of sickness
is the beginning of health. We are ever moving from the ending of one thing to the beginning of
something else. The ending of life here will be the beginning of another life in eternity which will
go on forever. That being the case, it is important to have a good beginning and most important is
that we have a good ending here. Some start well but mess it up with a poor ending. A new year is
a chance to make a new start to doing things in a new and better way. It is a time to look within and
honestly see if there is something going on in our life that is dragging us down. We may be playing
with the peril of experimenting with things God has declared are not good for us. It may be drugs,
alcohol, illicit desires, porn, or profanity, anything that pulls us downward. Are we toying with fire,
testing the forbidden fruit, nibbling at the destructive side of life? If we are, it is only a matter of
time because we are following the way of ruin. If we are trifling with important relationships, with
God, with our soul, we are playing with lightning.
The New Year is a good time to shake the shabby habits, crucify the lust, snap the shackles and make
Christ the ruling power and unchanging presence in our life as we travel on a constantly changing
road of life. I pray this New Year will find God’s ministers living in daily prayer with daily gratitude,
in a daily doxology of praise to God for new beginnings of daily digging in His
Word, daily watching out for the enemy of our soul, and daily reaping the
harvest of a sanctified fellowship with the King of the Kingdom.
Make it so, Lord Jesus.

Ezra 6:1-2 reads, “King Darius gave an order. He had a search
made in the official records stored among the treasures at
Babylon. A (record) book was found in a safe storeroom at
Ecbatana in the land of Media.”
All through the Bible, God had people keep records, and we find
another proof of that in this Scripture. These records were
stored where the treasures were laid up, and this proves to me
that God considers records to be very important.
Most of us keep our important records in a safe at home or a
safety deposit box in the bank. These records are usually very
valuable and irreplaceable. We should consider our church records
to be just as valuable, if not more so. If you’ve ever lost a check
register, you know how lost you are without that information.
The same holds true for records about the church. If you have
no idea of the struggles that your church has gone through, a lot
of times you do not respect the beliefs or doctrines of that
church as you would if you had known. When I came into the
Pentecostal Holiness Church, I remember hearing that people
had been called “Holy Rollers.” I heard of ministers holding tent
meetings & having their tents burned, or were stoned or shot at
for the sake of the Gospel. How many of us would hold up to this
type of persecution?
Search for those records, put them in a safe place, and let it be
known that they are important and aren’t to be destroyed. I
have heard of a dedicated church secretary who saved all the
bulletins for years because of information about people and
happenings, and when she was gone on vacation, someone
cleaned out the files and threw them all away. I also heard of a
pastor who had some of his memorabilia at the church, and
when he went to get it, someone had taken it or thrown it away.
We sometimes get too comfortable with things at the church &
think we can do just about what we want in the name of
cleaning up.
Church records help us know where we have come from and will
guide us into the future. We need to know the lives of those
who have come before us, if for no other reason than for their
sacrifices to help us appreciate what we have.
let’s do everything possible to protect our church history, that
we might have a heritage of which we may be proud!
—penned by Mrs. Betty Thompson
Jude 1:17-25 “But, beloved, remember ye the words which were
spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; How that
they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should
walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate
themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. But ye, beloved, building
up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our
Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. And of some have compassion,
making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of
the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. Now unto
him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you
faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the
only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and
power, both now and ever. Amen.”
As we pray for the state of our nation and across the globe, we
must continue to move forward in the Spirit of Christ Jesus. We
Christians have an advantageous step that positions us collectively
ahead of the spirit of this world. We must utilize these trying times
across our nation to spread the love of Jesus Christ in deed, the
preaching of the Gospel, as well as, everyday relationships. Christ is
the hope of GLORY! Therefore, we must continue to build ourselves
up in most holy faith. We must be in communion with the Holy Spirit
that we might be able to communicate with Him in spirit.
These principles will keep us tight knit in our relationship with GOD
and bound to HIS everlasting love. This assurance gives us the
privilege of praying the mercies of GOD for our nation and its
leaders, having compassion for those who don’t know the solution
for the world’s problems, which is Jesus Christ and His kingdom,
and for others the opportunity to duplicate the love of GOD by
pulling them out of the fire of wrath and judgment.
God will always stand up strong and determined to defend and
protect the righteous! Be encouraged and let the light of HIS glory
be radiant in your life as you spread the love of God! As we embark
upon this new year of opportunities, let us all seize them as an
open door for kingdom advancement.
I make myself available to share more with you and your local
church about what has been stirring in my spirit!
