Pesta Perarakan Chingay 2015

Mah Meri Ancestors Day Festival

A remarkable race between traditional longboats, this
regatta relives the glorious era of Rajah Brooke. The presentday longboats are decorated with colourful designs and
have differing lengths, some requiring only a few people,
and some up to 30 paddlers! This annual event includes
participation from boat operators, the public, private and
government sectors as well as other countries such as
Brunei and Indonesia in the quest for the title, the King of
the River.

The Lantern Festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the
eighth month in the Chinese calendar. Also known as the
Mid-Autumn Festival and Moon Cake Festival, it marks the
end of the harvest season. Malaysian Chinese celebrate
this festival with lantern processions. Shopping centres and
landmarks such as Petaling Street will be decorated with
thousands of colourful lanterns. There will be a range of
other activities that add to the festive atmosphere.
