Study abroad in Israel Scholarship Summary The UCLA Y&S Nazarian Center for Israel Studies, a constituent of the UCLA International Institute, is pleased to announce the Harry C. Sigman Scholarship which will provide scholarships to UCLA students for Junior year study in Israel. For the 2015-16 academic year, one scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $3,000. The Scholarship is designed for UCLA students from any academic background who wish to gain first-hand knowledge of Israel and its people, and to share their experience with others upon return to UCLA. This scholarship is made possible by a generous endowment gift from Harry C. Sigman to encourage students of diverse backgrounds to study in Israel. Additional scholarships will be available in future years. Eligibility • Full-time UCLA undergraduate or law student • Undergraduates will complete one full-time year at UCLA after returning from Israel (undergrad requirement only) • Attending a semester or year program at an institution of higher education in Israel. Institutions may include (but are not limited to) Ben-Gurion University, Hebrew University, IDC Herzliya, the Technion, Tel Aviv University, or University of Haifa. Institutions must be approved by UCLA such that academic credit will be transferable. • No prior experience living or studying in Israel for a period > 4 weeks • Minimum 3.0 cum GPA This scholarship will be awarded through a competitive application process. Selection will be based solely on merit. Preference will be given to applicants who complete at least one course that qualifies for the UCLA Minor in Israel Studies before leaving for Israel. Religion or ethnicity will not be criterion of eligibility.
