Welcome Back!
Happy New Year to all of you!
Thanks so much for all of the cards, gifts and kind messages delivered before
Christmas. They were very much appreciated.
Punctuality
We have spoken to the children about punctuality and are keen to encourage
good habits. At present, we keep informal records for lateness but in the
future we will be recording a ‘late’ mark, for any children arriving after the
register has been called. The new arrangements on KS1 playground have already
had a positive impact with punctuality, and morning lessons are able to start
even more promptly. We really do appreciate your support with this and feel it
will help to foster good habits for secondary school and beyond.
We are a Nut Free School
For the safety of children who have nut allergies, it is
important that no one brings nuts or nut products into
school. Thank you for your co-operation.
Seeing Teachers
We operate an ‘open-door’ policy and are always happy to see parents. Often,
quick queries/messages can be passed on and/or sorted at the gate at the
beginning or end of the day. However, if you do need to see your child’s teacher,
please telephone to make an appointment or ask at the office.
Thank you.
Staffing
There has been a small change with staffing arrangements in Lynx. Mrs
Haycock has increased her hours so that she is teaching Wednesday, Thursday
and Friday. Miss Allin has reduced her hours and will be working Monday and
Tuesday.

These will be made available next week.
Poster Competition
This year, we have introduced goals to help the children focus specifically on the
skills needed to become a successful learner. These targets are our ‘Secrets of
Success’. Teachers refer to specific targets in every lesson so that the children
are aware of their success, in terms of their attitude to learning as much as
their academic achievements.
The 8 targets for the ‘Secrets of Success’ are shown below:
In order to really promote these skills in school, we would like children to enter
our poster competition. Children in all classes are invited to enter.
They should choose one of the targets and design an A4 sized poster to promote
the skills needed to achieve this goal.
Make the poster bright and colourful and use as many illustrations as you like!
The best entry from each class will win a prize and the winning posters will be
displayed around school.
Entries to Mrs Brockington by Friday 6th February.

Large pieces of cardboard and any wool that you may have spare will be
