Book Reports / Essays due by January 30th at 5:00pm
Guidelines for writing an Essay on the book, Rediscover Catholicism:
1. A maximum of 600-700 words (approximately 1 to 1.5 typed pages double spaced)
2. A clean, concise introduction stating your position on the book
3. 5 or 6 examples from the book that support your position
4. A well written closing summary

The papers will be judged on content and whether or not the guidelines were followed. The essay
should focus on what you liked about the book or what you do not support in the book. Anyone who
prefers to write a book report should state what the book was about. There would be no need to
support your position.
All essays and book reports will be read by a team of three, designated by Msgr. Walter.
The winner of the contest will win an Ipad Mini!!!
Don’t forget, the deadline is 5:00pm on Friday, January 30th!

FOR ALL
VOLUNTEERS
PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN
All previously Virtus trained volunteers must
retake the Virtus Training either in person or
on-line. There will also be a new background
check done before February 28th. Background
checks will now be conducted every 5 to 10 years
& continuing education will be ongoing. In
general, all volunteers 18 and over must be in
compliance with the diocesan’s Safe Environments
Mandated Program. If you have not completed the
Safe Environments Program, please go to the Virtus
website, www.virtus.org (click on Registration),
for a listing of all upcoming sessions and to
pre-register for a session at your convenience.
After you attend a Virtus class, please submit all of
your paperwork to the St. Matthew office.
