torn between her love of God and her affection for Gerard who offers her marriage
and an alternative life in France. She realizes that the church is the only institution
in society that helps people of all strata. Outraged by public beating of slaves,
wanting to help the underprivileged and refusing to be forced into the life of a
concubine, Henriette begins to think about committing to a religious life. Tempted,
she ultimately refuses Gerard's offer because she cannot deny her true calling. She
sets up a hospital in the church rectory when yellow fever sweeps the South.
Eventually she fights through barriers brought on by society and even the church to

frightful heroin addict. Roemello has grown up to be an educated, culturally
pretentious businessman who stays away from his own merchandise, wears
expensive cashmere coats and other colorful clothes, and lives in a beautiful uptown
apartment, while being plagued by guilt. Raynathan, however, is losing his battle
with drug addiction and spiraling downward. Roemello runs the family drug business
with the help of an old-fashioned mob boss, Gus Molino (Abe Vigoda), whose grocery
is a front for the dealing. To fuel his doubts, Roemello becomes involved with a
beautiful aspiring actress, Melissa (Theresa Randle), and she urges him to get out of
the drug business. But a rival dealer, Lolly Jonas (Ernie Hudson), cuts into Roemello
territory, there is a brutally violent turf war, and Roemello must decide whether to

Skeem Saam is a blend of stories about the journey to manhood. It examines the

manhood. The underlying premise for the local drama series is that real men are

are. Lizo will explore his journey in a safe way but Kwaito and Tbose will take lifethreatening risks. Who will survive to see his 21st birthday? Who will grow into a

The series takes a close look at the lives of three teenage boys and their families. It
examines how these boys deal with issues of masculinity, gender relations,
relationships; self esteem, etc.
Skeem Saam will challenge old notions of masculinity by promoting the new positive
young versions of masculinity that are emerging in our modern society. The aim is to
offer young people the opportunity to become themselves and not just their gender.
Through the series they will learn that they shouldn‟t be limited by stereotyped
gender roles and rules and that all human beings are the same and are deserving of

The journey of South Africa told through the stories of its motor vehicles‟.
South Africa is a country with a strong car culture. Sociologically cars are important
indicators. They are a symbol of social status; they are a realization of passion, they
are a symbol of freedom and to a degree, extensions of each owner‟s identity. In
townships these cars are named in a particular manner and the connotations
attached to these names are as varied as the names given to them (e.g. Gusheshe,
Dolphin, Umadunusa, Idombolo, etc). In suburbia however, whether a car is called
Nanna or Berite is of no consequence. The fact is these are not just automobiles;
they are representations of both freedom and progress, and refer to a particular
culture and slice of time in South Africa‟s history.
Cars have significant stories attached to them and it is these stories that the
documentary series Culture of Cars seeks to uncover. Through the use of a
presenter, the series will explore the anthropological, cultural and social elements
informing the culture surrounding cars, its naming and the model of ownership as a
phenomenon in South Africa. The story of this culture will be seamlessly weaved
together using threads from various sub-cultures (music, fashion, politics etc.)
delivered in the form social commentary, interviews, archive footage, and shot
footage.

Beloved Characters; Bathathe and Makhekhe (from YOTVland) return to our screens
with a wide range of stories to share with their friends. Each week they will be
joined by a well known South African celebrity who will read them a story. All stories
will be animated from the existing picture books. This series will include 13 SiSwati
episodes and 13 SiNdebele episodes amongst the 52 episodes; Afrikaans and other
vernacular languages will also be included. (We believe that this series offers
exciting Radio and merchandising opportunities and will be exploring these with the
