C. 45153 19th January, 2015 Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Departments are asked to invite applications from suitably qualified officers in their Ministries/Departments to be assigned to the post of Senior Judicial Clerk (JLG/LO 4) in the Court of Appeal, salary range $2,625,031 - $3,120,336 per annum and any allowance(s) attached to the post. Job Summary Under the general supervision of the Registrar, the incumbent assists the President and all Judges of Appeal by researching the law and other relevant legal treatise for the preparation of legal opinions, materials for publication and speeches. Key Responsibilities Creates and maintains subject indices for written and oral judgements; Proofreads written and oral judgements; Attends all court sittings in assigned divisions; Gathers and analyzes research data, such as statutes, decisions, legal articles, codes, and documents; Writes legal opinions; Assists in the development of the Court of Appeal website; Assists with record keeping for all judgements; Assists Judges in creating and maintaining personal judgement files (index); Performs any other duties that may be assigned from time to time. 2/… -2- Required Skills/Competencies Excellent knowledge of local and international laws, rules and regulations of the Courts of Jamaica and other relevant jurisdictions Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent analytical, problem solving and time management skills Excellent interpersonal and people management skills Excellent presentation skills Ability to analyze and interpret legal documents Ability and willingness to lead Sound research skills Proficiency in the use of relevant computer applications Minimum Required Qualification and Experience A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree with relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience (i.e. five (5) years relevant working experience Certificate in Legal Education Applications accompanied by résumés should be submitted no later than Monday, 26th January, 2015 to: Registrar Court of Appeal Public Building West King Street Kingston Please note that only short listed applicants will be contacted.
