GoodLife Kids Foundation Grant Program Criteria

GoodLife Kids Foundation
Grant Program Criteria
GoodLife Kids Foundation is a Canadian private foundation with a vision for every Canadian kid to have the
opportunity to live a fit and healthy good life. By inspiring, supporting and creating opportunities for Canadian
kids we believe this vision can become reality.
GoodLife Kids Foundation is accepting requests for funding from registered charities and qualified donees. We
know that a greater impact can be made by partnering with other organizations with a similar focus. Please
review the following criteria prior to submitting your proposal.
Grants Available
GoodLife Kids Champion Grants
GoodLife Kids Champion Grants are available to registered charities and qualified donees in all communities
across Canada. Proposals are accepted throughout the year - deadline dates posted at www.goodlifekids.com
Grant requests of up to $10,000 will be considered. Requests above this amount may be considered from
time to time.
Top Fundraiser
Annually, GoodLife Kids Foundation recognizes the fundraising efforts of a select number of GoodLife Fitness
Clubs across Canada by awarding a grant to registered charities/qualified donees in the communities of these
top fundraisers. Grant amounts are pre-determined, and proposals are requested from
selected communities.
Grant Criteria
Organizations which qualify for a GoodLife Kids Foundation Grant:
•Registered charity
•Other qualified donees as identified under the Income Tax Act (Canada)
•Elementary schools
Proposals which fit the following criteria will be considered:
•Initiatives which provide the opportunity for sustainable physical activity , primarily focused on children ages 4
to 14 years
•The primary basis of the program will have children participating in physical activity for a significant portion of
the program. Nutrition and educational components may be supporting elements of the program.
•Ideally the initiative is designed with a measurement component which will identify how the program has
impacted the participants’ behavior. Some examples are:
- Kids are continuing physical activity that they participated in through the program.
- Kids self-identify how they will continue to be active once the program is complete.
- Kids are more physically active at the completion of the program than at the start.

Organizations & Initiatives Outside of Program Guidelines
A decision to decline a request does not imply that the applicant’s program is not needed or valued, but simply
that it does not fall within our guidelines or priorities, or that funds are not available. The following are considered
not eligible for funding:
•Organizations that are not a registered charity or qualified donee as identified by the Income Tax
Act (Canada)
•Organizations which financially support children to participate in a program run by another organization (eg:
KidSport, JumpStart).
•Programs specific for children with Autism – GoodLife Fitness is actively involved in supporting a major autism
research initiative through the Kilee Patchell-Evans Autism Research Group at Western University in London,
Ontario. Due to this significant commitment of personnel and financial resources by GoodLife, the GoodLife
Kids Foundation Grant Program does not offer additional support to programs specific for children with
Autism.
•Breakfast/Snack/Lunch programs
•New or replacement playground development
•Equipment only – CLARIFICATION: Equipment may be included as part of a grant application only if it is
utilized in a specific program. If equipment is static and does not have a connected program then it is
not eligible.
•Youth sports teams – recreational and competitive
•Summer Camp programs
•Research
•Individuals
•United Way
•Secondary & Post Secondary schools
•International organizations
•Religious organizations
•Political organizations and candidates
•Endowments, capital campaigns, buildings or ‘bricks and mortar’
