Global Trade Management
International trade can be complex. The laws and
regulations that govern the process of exportation and
importation are commonly referred to as trade compliance. Unfortunately, there isn’t a single set of global trade rules.
In some cases, there isn’t a single set of rules within a
country and the same item can be subject to varying trade
regulations depending on which other country is
involved. At a minimum, importers and exporters are
usually required to document the nature and value of
cross-border shipments. Failure to comply may lead to
product confiscation, penalties, and imprisonment. In
order to successfully comply, many functions within the
organization must have the capabilities and capacity to
comply. This discussion will provide an overview of an
organizational and strategic approach for trade compliance
as well as an overview of the major
areas of regulatory requirements.
Is the CFO Superseding the COO?
The COO of Firehouse Subs has recently resigned. Instead
of hiring a new COO, the operational responsibilities of the
company will now be split between Vince, the CFO and the
CEO. Along with the recent departure of the COO of
McDonald's, does this mark the decline of the COO? Vince
will discuss how he is taking on operational responsibilities
at Firehouse Subs, and the benefits and costs of having
operations consolidated into other business units.
Communicating the Insights Generated from
FP&A
ARC Document Solutions has successfully integrated the
site level financial analysis that is generated by analysts
and managers with the strategic financial plans set by the
CFO and the directors. This has allowed the FP&A team to
drill right into the performance of each site and identify the
causes of site underperformance, such as bloated rent or
supplier costs. John will discuss how he communicates
these insights with non-finance professionals, and how the
FP&A team is partnering to reduce costs and drive the
performance of the business.

From Valuation to Integration: The Evolving
Hands on Role of the CFO in Mid-Size M&A
Transactions
The role of the CFO has grown tremendously over the last
several years when it comes to mid-size M&A transactions. In an effort to keep transaction costs down and increase the
speed to completion, the CFO has taken on an increasingly
hands-on analytical and operational role. From the
valuation process, to due diligence and ultimately
integration, the responsibilities of the CFO and his or her inhouse team have expanded – often with less reliance on
third party advisors. As a CFO having been involved in
numerous transactions over the last several years, I will
discuss some of my observations on the process.
Finance Transformation and Shared Service
Center Implementation
Mauro will discuss how Swarovski is using global shared
service centers to improve the productivity and efficiency
of finance at Swarovski, and how shared services are
contributing to the overall finance transformation project.
