Celebrate Urban Birds
Every Thursday, 12:15 pm Join us rain or
shine, outside at the Library Park at the corner
of South Main and Mill Streets to help us
record the birds we see. Celebrate Urban Birds
is a program sponsored by The Cornell Lab of
Ornithology that is tracking 16 bird species
found in urban areas. All ages are welcome
to participate in this Citizen Science and
NatureConnect initiative.
Introduction to Patents & Patent Searching

from the Science & Technology division will
explain the process of getting a U.S. patent,
and show you how to do a preliminary patent
search using the United States Patent &
Trademark Office website. Basic computer skills

patent attorney and SCORE volunteer Dominic
Frisina for this informative session aimed at
making the most of your intellectual property.

the patent process, current patent policy at

and how an inventor can use this information.

This class focuses on the types of genealogical
information and sources researchers encounter,
what to expect when working with U.S. vital

Then join us each month as we pick a different
chef or theme and prepare recipes from the
cookbooks to share with the group. After
sampling the dishes, we will discuss the chef
or theme and the recipes. Anyone can join,
and all you need to do is bring your prepared
dish. There will be a microwave for re-heating,
if necessary. Pick up each month’s cookbooks
from our display, and get ready to have some
fun and FOOD FOR THOUGHT.

Tuesday, July 22, 6:30 pm At the onset of the
War of 1812 Daniel Dobbins was the most
knowledgeable sailor in the upper Great
Lakes. Learn how he convinced the Secretary
of the Navy that Erie, PA, would be the best
place to build the Lake Erie fleet for Oliver
Hazard Perry and the Battle of Lake Erie. Blue
prints of the Niagara will be on display. This

by the library. Each design is modeled on our
runway and the winner picked by a panel of
judges. Project Runway is also an opportunity
to be a “Model for a Day.” Twelve models with
attitude walk the runway during live judging.
Models have hair and make-up done for the
runway show and receive a gift bag. This
year, Fairlawn-Bath Branch and Ellet Branch
contestants are invited to participate in a
special runway show in the Auditorium at Main

Library will treat everyone to ice cream
sundaes.
June 19-Tie Dye! It’s our annual tie dye
program! Bring a white or light colored shirt
(or two) and we will provide the rest to make
fantastic tie dye creations.
June 26-You Pick the Flick! We will have two
great movies (all movies are rated PG-13 or
lower) selected and you get to vote which one
to watch! Bring your friends. We will have
plenty of popcorn! We will keep the buckets of
dye--so bring another item to tie dye before the
movie!
July 3-Rainbow Loom rubber band bracelets. If you haven’t yet learned how to make these
cool creations, we will show you how to make
two simple patterns of rubber band bracelets-that don’t even need a loom! If you have a
loom already, bring it and show us your skills!
Rubber bands will be provided. July 10-Chalk on the Walk. It’s another annual
program! Join us in covering the library’s front
walk with your hand drawn chalk designs. We
will have ice pops to cool off with after all your
hard work!
July 17-You Pick the Flick! Join us again for
some snacks and a great movie. We will have
two selected for you to vote on.
July 24-Ink Tiles. Learn how and make your
own one-of-a-kind beautiful ink colored tile.
Examples will be in the library display case.
Please register for this program by July 21.
After inking, tiles will need multiple layers of
clear coating, so you can pick up your tiles the
following week. We will display your tiles for
all to admire until you pick them up.
July 31-Fun with your Food. Learn how to
make some fun, fancy treats to share with
friends or on specials occasions. Chocolate will

Traveling “Libeary Bears”
These cuddly, stuffed bears like to travel and
make new friends. Plan to take one along on
