Laura Jernigan Praise the Lord! I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, in the company of the upright in the congregation. Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them. Full of honor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever. He sent redemption to his people; he has commanded his covenant forever. * HYMN OF PRAISE 41 * AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Unison) “O Worship the King, All Glorious Above!” Apostles’ Creed Dr. Tim Boggess I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. * PRAYER OF CONFESSION (Unison) Saving Lord, your holy word exposes us; we see ourselves as we truly are, as in a mirror. We confess our sins, all our sad, particular failings, though it is our inclination to hide them. Help us trust you with them; do away with them as you see fit. Help us trust you with our selves, trust that you will draw us out of our hiding places and reveal the seeds of hope and glory which you have sown within us, even as we step into the transforming light of your amazing love; in Jesus’ name we pray. A time of quiet, personal confession. In your mercy, Lord, hear our prayer, and forgive us. Amen. * ASSURANCE OF PARDON One: Friends, believe the good news of the Gospel: All: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven! * SUNG RESPONSE GLORIA PATRI Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. * SHARING THE PEACE OF CHRIST One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. All: And also with you. You are invited to share words and signs of greeting and reconciliation.
