The Charger Report, February 2015 - Itasca Public School District 10

From the desk of the principal… I absolutely love Peacock Middle School. I don’t think I can say this enough. I am always so impressed with our students and staff when I walk into classrooms, in the hallway, and before and after school. I watch our staff give their all to ensure each student is given what they need to succeed, and in turn, I watch our students give their all to ensure they are growing academically, socially, and emotionally. Together we are strong and Peacock is an outstanding middle school and we should all be proud. As a staff, we are thankful for our parents sending us such awesome students. I always comment and brag that Peacock exemplifies what a true learning community is. As always, if you ever have any questions or need anything, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I hope to see you at one of our numerous events this month. All my best, Brian Faulkner, Principal 5ESSENTIALS SURVEY By now, all parents should have received information regarding the 5Essentials Survey that will be taken by staff, students, and parents. This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of our school. As a parent, you will also have an opportunity to take the survey, which will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in regards to Peacock. To take the survey please visit https://survey.5-‐essentials.org/Illinois/ and select the appropriate survey to begin. expanding opportunities for teacher leadership, particularly those that allow teachers to stay in the classroom. Miss Krzyszkowksi, Mr. Crockett, and Mr. Faulkner worked closely with educators from across the country and the U.S. Department of Education to discuss, enhance, and promote teacher leadership. To have the U.S. Department of Education choose Peacock Middle School to attend the Louisville Summit was a complete honor. Peacock was one of 33 schools across the country that were invited to attend the Summit. Arne Duncan, United States Secretary of Education, kicked-‐off the weekend with a pep talk and participants then attended workshops/presentations that were facilitated by national teachers of the year, the 2015 national principal of the year, and leading experts in the field of education. Each school in attendance also worked collaboratively with other schools, teacher leadership gurus, and the U.S. Department of Education to create teacher leadership plans that will be implemented in K-‐12 schools throughout the country.
