LODGE OFFICERS
Exalted Ruler:
Mike Ford
Leading Knight:
Colleen Ford
Loyal Knight:
Rich Eckert
Lecturing Knight:
Mark Gerst
Secretary: Tom Ohlendorf
Treasurer: Steve Rose
Tiler: Andrea Ohlendorf
Inner Guard: Teresa Boileau
Chaplain: Joe Marzullo
Esquire: Nicole DiIorio
Trustees:
1-Year: Bob Baxendell
2-Year: Ron Vasold
3-Year: Doug Kadolph
4-Year: John Wilhelm Jr.
5-Year: John Opitz Jr.
Wow, who turned off the
heat? February is upon us
and so is the winter cold. I
figure with this weather Bob
Baxendell has sold the remaining spots for the Punta
Cana trip in May by now. A
beach does sound pretty
good. Soon enough we will
be watching the Orioles on
their way to a World Series.
However, there is still work
to do to warm the hearts of
others in need. Here is
what’s been going on and
what’s coming up.
January 1st started off
2015 with a big bang. It
was a great New Year’s party at the Lodge with 70
members and guests. Rae
raised even more money for
ENF and the “pit crew” did
another a fantastic job with
the food. January 3rd was
our annual Hoop Shoot and
I would like to thank everyone who stopped out to help
Jaimie make this another
successful event.
This month, February, in
case you are lost we have
the Member Appreciation
Party on the 7th. All shenanigans will of course be
reported on. This is just a
reminder that our first meeting on the 12th is our PER
Night. Where our “old” Exalted Rulers will run the meeting and accept nominations
for this year’s officers. If
you are interested in becoming an officer please let
me know and I will give you
the job description. It’s a
great way to get more involved with your Lodge and
the Community. February
20th is our Mardi Gras Party
with all the sights, sounds,
and tastes of New Orleans.
See you there.
March is going to be another fun yet busy month. It’s a
month for our Irish members, our end of the Elk year
ENF drive, and the end of
my term as ER. Keep an
ear to the ground and watch
the Elk Droppings for upcoming events. March 27th
is our regular steak and
shrimp night and installation of Lodge Officers. So
come on out and stay
awhile and see our new
leaders.
Officer of the Month: This
person was a new member
when I asked him to think
about helping me out as an
Page 1
officer. Luckily for me he
accepted.
He has also
helped out with our Veteran’s Dinner. Oh yeah I grew
up with his kids. Thank you
Chaplin Joe Marzullo for
holding a key office in our
Lodge.
Elk of the Month:
This
member has consistently
made and accepted a key
role in a certain optional
Lodge program. She has
chaired this event for several years and has built it up
from nothing. Now the Abingdon Hoop Shoot produces kids that move up to the
State and Regional levels.
Thank you Jaimie Corcoran
for continuing to chair our
Hoop Shoot and making
such a big difference in our
community.
“I discovered I scream the
same way whether I am
about to be devoured by a
great white shark or a piece
of seaweed touches my
foot.” Axel Rose

Nominations for Officers - February 12, 2015
Are you interested in having more input into how your
Lodge is run? Do you think you have what it takes to
make the Lodge and your community a better place?
If so, now is your chance. On Thursday, February 12th,
we will take nominations for officers for the 2015-2016
Lodge year. We need YOU if you are willing to step up
and lead the Lodge into the future.
ENF COMMITTEE REPORT
Attention All - Game Night has been decided. I wanted to do something in which the entire Lodge
could be involved and not just a select few. So, on February 27, at our monthly Steak & Shrimp
Dinner, we will play – WHEEL OF FORTUNE! There will be prizes on the wheel that can be won by
any member playing who solves the puzzle(s), as well as a Bonus Round for the Top Winner(s). Details will be posted at the Lodge shortly. Plan to spend a fun evening with your Elk family and
friends solving word puzzles to help support the Elks National Foundation. This is our final fundraiser of the 2013-14 Elk year: Let’s make it a big one!!
Elks are service-minded, but we know that, the Abingdon Elks have been serving community members in need for many years.
Thanks to the Elks National Foundation Community Investment Programs, the possibilities are endless for “Building a Stronger
Community”. We shouldn’t miss the opportunity to serve our community with a Gratitude Grant! Since we’ve met the GER’s per
member giving goal of $4.60, our application is now available to us. In the past, we’ve donated funds to local schools and other
charities. This year, I’d like to do more than hand over a check. I’d like to see Elks involved. The deadline to submit the application is fast approaching. If you have any ideas for this grant or would like more information on what we can use the funds towards, please see me at the Lodge or email me at raezjewelrybox@verizon.net.
If you have not donated to ENF this year, there is still time. Donations for the 2013-14 Elk year will be accepted through March
15 at the Lodge. After then, donations can be made online at www.elks.org/enf.
See ya’ll at the Lodge.
Rae Vasold, PER & ENF Chairperson
Jr Elks Report
Hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season! January was a quiet month for the Jr Elks, but now
we are all ready to get back to the wonderful work that we do for our community.
Our meetings for this month will be on February 8th and February 22nd. These are Sundays and the
meeting will start at 4. Please let me know if you are able to attend and if this day still works the best for
you. We can always change the day if it works best for the group. The first meeting will be the meeting
were we will hold nominations for the upcoming Jr Elk year. So please think about becoming an officer this coming year. We will
hold elections on our second meeting in February. I would like to personally thank all this years officers for their work in keeping
the Jr Elks involved within our Lodge and community! You are all a great group of upcoming Elks!!!.
Thank you for all your continuing support
Colleen,
Leading Knight & Youth Activities Chair

Shuffleboard League Update
We kicked off our Winter League on Wednesday January 14th. Thank you for all of the volunteers who
have made our league so successful. We have our round robin schedule planned out thru the spring
months and will hold playoffs in the May timeframe. The charity for the winter league is our Red Angels
Team (funds going towards Cancer Research) After Memorial Day we will run a summer league.
We can always use more volunteers as pitch hitters when regular team members can't reschedule/make up games. So if you
have interest, please contact me at 908-309-6311 or nicoled1179@gmail.com You can also reach out on our Lodge Facebook
page.
Thank you again for all of your support.

our pricing in comparison to other such facilities is quite competitiv9e. Oh, Wait! There are no other such facilities like “Lodge 2354 on the Bush River Shore.” We
