I
SUPERINTENDENT’S
COMMENTS
’d like to take the spring edition to focus on
projects we have worked on over the winter
and have on the books for this spring.
Web-site
April Cioffi has done a fantastic job doing a
complete overhaul of our website. It is easily
navigable and has more information on it
than our previous one. It is easy for us to edit
in house and be more nimble with our web
presence. We have made it a focus to keep our
website updated and current as we want it to
be the “go to” place for when you have any
questions on what we are offering.
Giorgetti Arena
We have brought a committee together to look
at Giorgetti Arena and determine next steps.
The Arena was refrigerated in 2007 on a shoe
string budget and we are now facing decisions
to bring the rink into full code compliance
and potentially improve the comfort level of
participants year-round. We are looking for
committee members if you would like to get
involved.
White Park
After a long 44 years of use, White’s pool is not
able to open this season due to major structural
issues. We are now facing the same decisions
our past community leaders faced in the late
60’s when the Main Street Park pool was also
in a state of decline after 40 years of use. The
good news is that while pools were built to last
25-30 years in the past the current technology
allows them to be built for 50 years. Our kids
will remember this when it gets brought up in
2065! Please fill out our survey at rutlandrec.
com to share your opinions.
Rotary Park
We have gone to bid for the Rotary Park field
improvement project. We are looking to award
the bid in mid-March. Demolition of the
building could be as early as this spring but
work on the field will likely start late summer
as the field dries up more.
Courcelle
We are continuing to update and improve our
main headquarters. We received a donation
from RRMC and Yankee Paint that allowed us to
renovate our final room. It is now available for
community meetings. We have tables, chairs
and a Smart TV if needed. Our parks staff that
is on-site during the winter has transformed
the main garage area into an efficient storage
space and they are in the process of turning
the old firing range into a storage area for all
of the mowers.
Godnick Center
The new cabinets and appliances are starting
to go into the kitchen and we will have the
kitchen finished by the end of winter. The
spring will see the parking lot night time
lighting greatly improved as we update the
electric lines.
Have a great spring and remember to GO PLAY!

• All scholarships will run from July 1st to June 30th of
each year.
• Persons applying must do so before June 15th to be

offering the intended program, will be a cause to remove

We are proud to announce our new partnership with the American Sports Education Program, better
known as ASEP. All volunteer coaches (including assistant coaches) will be required to become ASEP
certified by attending one of several live clinics held throughout the year. All clinics are run through
the Rutland Recreation Department and are led by a certified ASEP administrator. In addition to
teaching valuable tools for working with both athletes and parents, each session also includes a sportspecific component and provides extensive online resources to ensure your season goes smoothly.
Please consider volunteering as a coach or a team parent…the opportunities are endless and the
reward is knowing that you’ve made an investment in the future of our community – our children!
