Speaker biographies: Challenges and Issues in Cybersecurity Alan Charles Raul Partner Sidley Austin LLP Alan Raul is the founder and lead global coordinator of Sidley’s highly ranked Privacy, Data Security and Information Law practice. He represents companies on federal, state and international privacy issues, including global data protection and compliance programs, data breaches, cybersecurity, consumer protection issues and Internet law. Alan’s practice involves litigation and counseling regarding consumer class actions, FTC, State Attorney General, Department of Justice and other government investigations, enforcement actions and regulation. Alan provides clients with perspective gained from extensive government services, as well. He previously served as Vice Chairman of the White House Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board, General Counsel of the Office of Management and Budget, and of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and Associate Counsel to the President. He has appeared frequently as a legal commentator on television and radio, and testifies before Congress on various issues. Neal Pawar Managing Director, Chief Technology Officer AQR Neal is AQR’s Chief Technology Officer. In that role, he is responsible for all activities related to the design, development and implementation of systems, software and infrastructure. Prior to AQR, he was a Managing Director and Chief Information Officer of UBS’s global wealth management business in Zurich, and before that he was a partner at D.E. Shaw & Co. in New York City. He began his career at Swiss Bank-O'Connor in Chicago. He leads PwC’s New York Cyber Forensics team, and specializes in rapid, highly technical incident response and investigations in response to unplanned client events, particularly data breaches, other cyber attacks, fraud, theft of trade secrets, spoliation and transaction analysis. He has extensive experience consulting with clients on the topics of incident response, data preservation and data analysis related to breach incidents. Brian also consults extensively on Information Governance to Fortune 500 clients, including assisting clients with the governance structures, incident plans, data classification, preservation, analytics and reporting around electronic information in preparation for crisis situations. Mr. Fox has been a recurring speaker at numerous major law firms, corporations and government entities, including the United States Secret Service, discussing the role of advanced technology and its applications in investigations. Fox has also been retained in a consultative capacity to analyze electronic inventory systems, map data flow, and interview technical witnesses on behalf of attorneys.
