Spring 2015
Packington Children’s Centre Stay and Play Guide
Packington Children’s Centre is one of Islington’s 16 Sure Start Children’s Centres. We offer
children and families a range of activities and services to help give every child the best start in life. Most of the
activities are free but parents/carers must be registered with the Children’s Centre before using the services.
We have a number of professionals working with us who are able to support parents and carers with young children on a
range of issues, these include: Bi-Lingual/ Family Support Workers, Speech and Language Therapists Child Psychologist
and Social Workers. Please ask a member of staff if you would like more information .
Play
Children learn through play – through making their
own choices and mistakes. We support this by
providing activities including paint, collage, books,
singing, messy play, construction, sand, water, small
world, imaginative play, bikes and outdoor toys.
Parent and Carer Involvement
We encourage parents and carers to take part in
and develop your children’s play. It’s a great
opportunity to spend some time playing with your
child, letting them get really involved with things
they enjoy.
Responsibilities
Please ensure you sign in on the attendance
register. During Stay and Play Parents/Carers are
asked not to use mobile phones, but if you need to
take a call or send a text message please leave the
room briefly and ask another adult to supervise
your child(ren).
IMPORTANT:
To ensure your child gets the most out of our stay
and play sessions, parents and carers are reminded
to arrive within the first half of the group to avoid
being turned away.
Food and Drink
Please do not bring food or drink into stay
and play sessions. We provide healthy snacks
such as water, fruit and breadsticks for
children to enjoy
