We are your local area for the NPS, covering Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire and I.O.W. For a subscription donation of
just £10.00 you can join. As a subscriber you will receive newsletters containing useful information about our area,
which you can add to, with articles, adverts of stock for sale, stallions at stud, forthcoming events and your results. You

All ponies in Mountain & Moorland classes must be registered in their respective Stud Books and conform to the
height limits laid down by their Breed Societies. There is no height limit for Welsh Cobs, Section D.
All ponies in Pure, Anglo and Part Bred Arab classes are to be registered with The Arab Horse Society
All stallions and colts, 2 years old or over, must be in possession of a current Stallion Licence, unless otherwise
governed by their individual Breed Society. Ridden stallions MUST display a stallion bridle marker available
from the NPS office.
Stallions and colts, two years old or over must be adequately bitted.
All riders must have attained their 3rd birthday before the 1st January in the current year
Handlers of ponies in In Hand classes aged 14 years or under must wear correctly secured British Standard skull caps
/ riding hats.
In Mountain and Moorland classes riders of stallions must be 12 years old or over when riding small breeds (Shetland,
Dartmoor, Exmoor, Welsh A & B). For large breeds (Highland, Fell, Dales, Connemara, New Forest, Welsh C & D)
riders of stallions must be 14 years old or over.
In Show Pony/Show Hunter Pony classes riders must be 12 years old or over when riding stallions not exceeding 128
cm and 14 years old or over when riding stallions exceeding 128cms.
In all classes whips / canes must not exceed 76 cm. (30”).
The decision of the Judge is final. Any objection must be handed in to the Secretary in writing within 10 minutes of
the alleged incident, accompanied by a £30 deposit.
The Committee reserve the right to cancel, amalgamate or sub-divide any class as may seem justified.
The Committee reserve the right to refuse entry to any person without giving a reason.
Every effort has been made when drawing up the schedule of events to avoid classes coinciding, but in the event of
having ponies entered in classes which do take place at the same time, the exhibitor must choose which class to enter
and NO REFUND OF ENTRIES WILL BE MADE.
The class is closed and ponies will not be allowed into the ring: In-Hand – When the last pony has done its individual
trot around the ring before being lined up. Ridden (including LR) – When the class goes into trot.
All vehicles parked at owner’s risk.
Ponies are not to be left unattended whilst tied to the outside of vehicles/trailers.
No entry fees will be refunded unless a veterinary certificate is presented.
The organisers will not be held responsible for any theft, accident, loss or damage to any exhibit, person or property
however caused. It is a condition of entry that every exhibitor/spectator shall indemnify the organisers against any
legal proceedings arising from any accident or injury, incident or misdemeanour however caused
Correctly secured current British Standard Skull Caps / Riding Hats must be worn at all times when mounted on the
showground.
All dogs must be kept on leads and all dog toilet picked up and removed.
We strongly recommend that all exhibitors carry Public Liability Insurance.
In the event of cancellation a proportion of entry fees will be withheld.
Side reins / grass reins / draw reins are not permitted when riding on the show ground
Lorries and Trailers are not to be mucked out on the show ground anybody found in breach of this rule will be
fined £25.00

Class 21. For Ponies not exceeding 122 cm. Riders must have attained their 3rd birthday but must not have attained their 9th
birthday before the 1st January in the current year. Pony not to have won a first prize in any Leading Rein class.
The NPS M&M Novice First Ridden Winter Championship
Class 22. For Ponies not exceeding 128 cm. Riders must have attained their 3rd birthday but must not have attained their 12th
birthday before the 1st January in the current year. Pony not to have won a first prize in any First Ridden class. Ponies must not
be cantered except in their individual Show
The NPS M&M Leading Rein Winter Championships
Class 23. For Ponies not exceeding 122 cm. Riders must have attained their 3rd birthday but must not have attained their 9th
birthday before the 1st January in the current year.
The NPS M&M First Ridden Winter Championships
Class 24. For Ponies not exceeding 128 cm. Riders must have attained their 3rd birthday but must not have attained their 12th

in any open Ridden M&M Class. Rider any age (except stallions – see NPS Rules)

Champion and Reserve Champion from the Novice Ridden & Open Ridden Mountain & Moorland Championship. To be run under
National Pony Society Rules 2015

pony and rider. Ponies must be shown in a suitable snaffle bit.
Class 38. Unaffiliated First Year First Ridden – Open to mares and geldings 4 years old and over not exceeding 128cm and
Riders 12yrs and under. This class is designed to encourage the young riders who have just come off the lead rein. Ponies must
be shown in a suitable snaffle bit
Class 39. Junior Handler 5yrs to 8yrs old
Class 40. Junior Handler 9yrs to 14yrs old
All Junior Handler classes are to be judged on handler, turnout, presentation of pony & showing technique. (No
Stallions)
