In January, I didn't get to make a long ride, but I traveled five-miles anyway. It looks like February
will be very cold.
We had a Saturday breakfast in January. Quite a few people showed up. But it would've been
nice if some of the people that don't usually come to breakfast on Sunday would've come and
joined us that day. Everybody had a good time. So we will do it again in February so you can
come and join us on Saturday and still go to church on Sunday. If you go to church on Sunday
say a prayer for all the bikers out there.
For now we're looking forward to our anniversary party. It will be on March 28. Read March’s
calendar to see time and date. There is also a flyer online. We have a calendar online with some
rides listed for this year. Keep an eye on new rides and new events.
I will see you at breakfast. Hopefully, everyone will give it a try and see what it's like what it's like
to join a bunch of old bikers for good food and talk.
A reminder for March. A lawyer from Buckfire and Buckfire will speak at our March gathering
about motorcycle insurance.
Your CD EZRA
YOU’RE INVITED!
MARK YOUR CALENDARS
On February 14, Ezra and I are hosting a Valentine’s Day Party at our house. We will provide
coffee and non-alcohol punch, and a couple of snacks. Please bring your favorite snacks and
beverages. Also, please (if you like), make a Valentine for our best Valentine Card Contest. A
cool prize will be awarded to the one that receives the most votes! Also, we have a neat game to
play. So, come and enjoy.
VERY IMPORTANT:
Chapter MI-G’s Anniversary Party will happen on March 28 at Brann’s
Steakhouse on Division Ave. near 44th Street SW. This is when we chose our COUPLE OF THE
YEAR for 2015! SO, please do not miss this one! We need door prizes, and items for our silent
auction. We would love to see all of our Chapter MI-G members there.
Thank you
Marilynn

Gimme 5
We are ½ way through the winter time.
The time when we have the most PMS.
“Parked Motorcycle Syndrome.”
While most of us are not riding, let’s not let our skills deteriorate.
Our skills are transportable.
We drive in the same manor on 2 wheels as on 3 or 4 wheels.
Be aware of your surroundings, look on down the road.
Coast down the road to a sign or signal.
That way you can stop easily, or accelerate easily if need be.
By accelerating slowly and steadily and decelerating the same way,
finding the “sweet spot” you may increase your MPG.
There are many ways to increase MPG and safety while driving at any time of the year.
This time of year is a good time to learn new and practice old skills.
Safe driving is something we can do all year round.
Problem of the Month
“A Strange thing happened to my 2009 GW with 94k miles today. I left home with no
problem and about 20 minutes into my ride to work stopped at a store for 10 min. When I
left and got a mile down the road noticed my headlights were not on. I stopped and turned
off the key then to acc then back to on. I started the bike still with no lights and proceeded
to work. Another mile or less down the road they popped on. At lunch time I went for a ride
with no problem. Came home later with no problem. I have not checked anything out yet.
Help!”
Possible solutions will be discussed at our February Gathering. What’s one thing you
should have in your saddlebag?
Assume that there is a brick wall just beyond your line of sight for every
blind curve.

insurance during our March

Reflecting on the past year, no lets make that the 2 years Jane and I have
been members of GWRRA-MI-G brings back so many memories of
events, trainings, meetings, Wing Dings, Wingless Weekends, Couple of
the Year, Rides and just helping our Chapter be the best it can be. Thanks to our wonderful officers for their passion whether it's planning a
Chapter Meeting, Gathering, event, ride or where we'll be stopping at for
our next Ice Cream fix, a BIG THANK YOU! Again looking back, yes, I've
ridden a lot of different motorcycles, was involved with other
organizations and rides, but I must say that all changed when I
purchased my/ours 2006 Goldwing Trike, with Jane's somewhat I'm not
too sure about this and joined GWRRA and the great MI-G Chapter here
in Grand Rapids. I no longer was a number, but a friend. That is what being a member of
our great organization is all about. As I reflect on 2015 and see our
motto FUN, SAFETY, KNOWLEDGE, I think FRIENDSHIP should also be
included. Jane and I both look forward to 2015 and the many adventures we'll
encounter with MI-G and maybe even new flavors of ice cream. Look
back and reflect on your Chapter, do you have fond memories? If not
make that New Years Resolution to be the Best Chapter it Can Be.
Respectfully Submitted
