A NOTE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
What a great year we are having at Calumet Public Schools! As your
Superintendent of schools, what words can a person say to this awesome
School Board and Community? For me, loving kids and putting them first
has always been my purpose, my passion, my calling, and why I do what I
do.
The School Board’s vision started several years ago wanting to put
students in a safe, clean, energy efficient and the best learning environment
possible. What a vision! We planned on this taking several more years to
come to fruition. The wind farm, oil, gas, and local growth has allowed a
faster progression of building than originally expected.
It always comes back to you, the voter. The voters of this community are
unbelievable, passing another bond that put students first. By August 2016,
you will have put every student in a new classroom within the last two years.
I am overjoyed with such emotion as your Superintendent of 14 years!
Most schools can only dream of building a new high school and elementary
school. You, the community, will make this a reality for the children of
Calumet.
I wanted to share again the $6,150,000 funds will construct a new
Elementary School. In this building there will be nine new classrooms, two of
which will be safe rooms, a new library, and total remodel of two rooms for a
new Elementary Principals’ office and computer lab. This building will also
have small restrooms inside each three, four and five year olds classrooms.
The second part of the bond is $360,000 funds to purchase four new route
buses. The Board has decided to buy buses with air ride and air brakes. This
will cut the cost of repairs down to a minimum. The air will also help in a
smoother and safer ride for the students.
Students are our future and thanks again voters for putting them first!!!
God bless,
Keith Weldon
Emma is one of our future Chieftains!
Dear Parents,
The Calumet students will be collecting change and donations for our
little Chieftain Emma Elliott. Emma is a student in our three Year Old
Program. Emma has been diagnosed with cancer in her brain. She is
currently having Chemotherapy once a week.
The Students and Staff at Calumet would like to collect change to
help supply the family with gas cards and gift certificates to eat while
they are at the hospital.
We appreciate any donations that you can give. If you would like to
write a check, please make it out to the Student Activity Fund. I also
ask for you to keep Emma and her family in your prayers.
Thank you for your support and prayers.
