Precautions against
Swine Flu
NMMC’s public health department in
full readiness to battle an outbreak
By Chandrashekhar Hendve
VASHI: Considering
the outbreak of Swine
Flu in the neighbouring
Mumbai, NMMC’s public health department
has made wide spread
arrangements for facing a possible outbreak.
It has opened 27 screening centers across the
city and also opened two
special wards where inpatients can be treated.
Since Swine Flu is a
highly contagious disease, these wards are
being treated as ‘Isolation Wards’.
“Though the Ward
at the civic general hospital at Vashi has eight
beds, there are only
three patients admitted
as suspected cases,”
said Dr Prashant
Jawade, Medical Superintendent. “The second isolation ward has
been ‘opened’ at D Y
Patil Hospital at Nerul,” he added.
“All the civic hospitals, maternity homes,
women and child
health centers and Ur-
ban health centers have
been provided with facilities for screening. In
the event of any suspicion, they are referred
to diagnostic centers at
the General Hospital at
Vashi or D Y Patil hospital at Nerul,” he informed. “All the centers have been stocked
with enough medicines.”
Explaining the primary symptoms, Dr
Jawade said that high
fever, cough, sore
throat, squeamishness,
difficulty in breathing
are some of the symptoms of this disease. As
soon as a family member exhibits any of
these symptoms, he
must be referred to one
of the screening centers. Children going to
school, if detected with
any of these symptoms,
should be prevented
from going.
About the preventive measure to be taken, Dr Jawade said that
as far as possible, one
should avoid shaking
hands with others or
hugging. “It is necessary to wash one’s
hands clean using soap.
Don’t consume any
medicine unless prescribed by a doctor.
Drink a lot of water.”

MSRDC road with four heightened
speed-breakers trouble the public
By Umesh Parida
PANVEL: If you are
in a hurry to pass the
road between the
Panchmukhi Hanuman Temple and the
ONGC Colony then
think twice or many
times. At least four
times you have to
push the brake of
your vehicle - thanks
to the new construction of heighted
speed breakers at a
distance of few
hundred meters of
the MSRDC road.
The road is found
to have four such
speed breakers
having a height of
approximately a feet
or more. These four
speed breakers were
constructed a few days
ago to control the
speeding vehicles after
the Bhingari and
other villagers’
mounted pressure
flouting any norms to

What is the

Months after Telengana
state formed, the vehicle
number plates yet to change
By Umesh Parida
NAVI MUMBAI: The
Telengana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar
Rao had been very vocal against then undivided Andhar Pradesh.
Finally after carving
out the new state of Telengana his photo is
found in the state road
transport bus being
plied to Mumbai via
sue may take time.”
This Reporter noticed the state transport vehicle at the Panvel depot on Tuesday
when many people were
found alighting from
the buses. However,
though the buses carry
the advertisement with
the Telengana CM K
Chandrasekhar Rao’s
photograph he are sur-
Navi Mumbai with the
Andhra Pradesh number plates.
It can be noted that
after several months
the election was held
and also the Telengana
state CM has taken
over the reins of the
state and has not yet
been able to change the
old number plates. A
city resident R Narayana says, “The number
plate of the newly registered vehicles has
been changed to start
with TS but the old
ones have not been
changed.”
When asked about
changing the old number plates of vehicles
registered in the now
Telengana state he said,
“There is a legal battle
on the issue pending
before the High Court.
Till the time the same
cannot be changed, this
is learnt. The legal is-
prised to notice the
number plates that
were yet not changed.
What the Telengana people in the city
feel is that this will be
changed as the new
state CM is very aggressive in protesting
against any issue related to then Andhra
Pradesh state. But
there is need to wait and
watch as to when the
old number plates will
be changed to new
number plates starting
with Telengana.
It can be noted that
based on a plea by a resident of Hyderabad,
Rammohan Chowdary
has challenged the state
government’s order of
July 17, 2014, asking
all the vehicle owners
to change their number
plates from AP to TS
through a process of reregistration in the
High Court.

Play a fair game, Obama!
U.S. President Barack Obama spoke about
the shrinking religious tolerance in India.
His statement has embarrassed the Narendra Modi government. Hindutva groups such
as the Vishwa Hindu Parishad are also upset. Obama made this statement in spite of
the fact that Modi has repeatedly claimed to
have been guided by — first, the Constitution, and second, Gandhian ideals.
The two statements very clearly expose
the ignorance of the US President Mr. Barack
Obama and his team about matters pertaining to the true situation in India. In reality,
Hindus have been too tolerant of the rampant proseyletising and conversions of Hindus under one pretext or another. The Church
has been relentlessly proseyletising - overtly and covertly. Some Muslims have been
openly talking about making India an Islamic
nation either by force or by demographic imbalance. Hindus have a right to live and practice their religion and we are not ready to be
reduced to living in settlements like the Red
Indians in America or the aborigines in Australia (Tasmania).
Why Obama didn’t mention about Islamic
extremism in India. Look at the medieval
history of india, which is full of stories of
barbarism and cruelties of rulers who forcibly converted Hindus into Islam, vandalized
thousands of temples and massacred crores
of hindus.
There was a big number of gullible Hindus converted to Christian by using financial incentives and Muslim by using force in
the last 500 years. If Obama had some idea
about such conversions, he would have understood where the problem lies. Obama is
pressured by the Church to make such statements because their agenda of converting
Hindus to Christian has been disrupted by
the Bharatiya Janata Party’s election victory. Also, if India’s economy improves and
pulls masses out of poverty, how will the
Church convert gullible poor tribal by offering money?
If Obama cares to look objectively at the
religious situation in India, he will find that
nothing big change has occurred. There were
conversions earlier, now also. Only difference
is now Hindus have also become active like
their counterparts in Muslims, Christians.
Some bad statements are made by some Hindu individuals, are like earlier made by Muslims, and Christian individuals. By that itself sky is not going to fall. Indian culture is
strong enough and secular enough.
Why President Obama did not criticize
Saudi Arabia’s intolerance of all other faiths.
In Saudi Arabia no one can practice any religion other than Islam. What about his allies in the gulf? They too are utterly communal. Why nobody even highlights the
atrocities committed on Hindu minorities in
Pakistan and other Muslim countries? It is
high time Obama played a fair game.

ALIBAG: The only

coming here for treatment. The patients after surgery

Dr Ajit Gavli. This is sordid
fact.
However, the
district Civil
Surgeon has agreed to
some extent that the
patients are facing the
inconvenience, while he
was speaking to this
newspaper.
The relatives of such
patients are complaining against the incon-
venience. Earlier the X
ray machine was found
out of order in the hospital. Patients turning
up to the old male surgery ward were allegedly directed to go to the
new surgery ward.
The patients’ relatives have complained
that the hospital staff is
suddenly asking the
patients to turn up to
the surgery ward without any prior intimation. This leads to last
minute rush. The male
surgery ward patients
had to move on to the
ground floor chamber of
the District CS on February 9. Many of the relatives of the admitted
patients have expressed
serious concern over
the sorry
state of affair
in the district hospital.
While
speaking to
this newspaper, the District CS Dr
Ajit Gavli
did not rule
out that the
patients and
their relatives are facing inconvenience. He
also said that there
may be other patients
who have to be treated
as he was busy. He however, sought specific
complaints of the patients.

charge of molesting a
25-year old lady customer.
The customer, a native of New Zealand,
was on a visit to the city
in connection with a
marriage and was staying at Vashi. On Tuesday, she visited Princess Shoppe, a cloth
store in Sector-17 for
buying clothes. Dinesh
Parihar, a salesman at
the shop was asked to
attend to her. In the
course of showing her
the clothes, the salesman is said to have
tried to touch her repeatedly causing much
discomfort to her. She
protested, but when the
man continued to be defiant, she left the shop,
went to Vashi police station and lodged a complaint.
Smelling trouble,
the salesman is said to
have disappeared from
the shop but the cops
examined the CCTV
footage to enable them
to identify him and following the tips provided by the shop owner,
managed to arrest the
accused on Wednesday.
He is facing charges of
