Lee Schlagel Memorial Basketball Tournament
21st -FEBRUARY-2015
Thank You for participating in the FOURTH ANNUAL LEE SCHLAGEL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP TOURNAMENT!
Lee Schlagel, son of Terry and Deb Schlagel, was an outstanding athlete at Clark High School. His life ended as
the result of an asthma attack at the age of 25. While attending Clark High School, he excelled at sports -he
was the quarterback on the 2002 11B State Championship football team and a key player on the basketball
team that was runner–up to Chester in 2004. In Track, he was a member of the State Championship Medley
Relay team his senior year.
Lee was at his best when the game was bigger and more important. He was a player you could count on in the
big game, thriving in situations where there was an opportunity to do something special for his team.
February 21st - Clark is hosting the Lee Schlagel Memorial Basketball Tournament. This is for JV Basketball
Teams of boys and girls. This tournament was created to honor the memory of Lee and to provide an
opportunity for young people to excel and showcase their talents - while raising money for scholarships to be
given in his name.
We are serving a noon lunch (pulled pork sandwiches!) and will have different raffles and silent auctions
throughout the day. There will be one blanket made in each team’s respective team’s color…..tshirts,
drawings for a dorm fridge, IPod and Nintendo DS, among other items. We hope everyone will enjoy
themselves and give a moment of reflection for Lee.
WE ARE COMMITTED TO KEEP ANGER OUT OF YOUTH BASKETBALL AND TEACH YOUTH
TO RESPECT THE GAME. PLEASE HELP US KEEP THESE GAMES POSITIVE! PRAISE YOUR
PLAYERS, RESPECT OUR OFFICIALS AND CONTROL YOUR FANS. REMEMBER, THE
TOURNAMENT IS FOR THE PLAYERS! HAVE FUN. MAKE IT FUN. KEEP IT FUN.
If you can dream it, you can achieve it.
