JOB VACANCY NOTICE Information Technology Manager Government of the Virgin Islands ROLE SUMMARY The successful applicant will manage the Information Technology Unit of the RVIPF providing technological support and strategies to facilitate the implementation and maintenance of an efficient and modern information technology strategic solution. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the unit. 2. Plan, organise, direct, control and evaluate the operations of information systems including mobile working and OCTRICIS interconnectivity. 3. Assist in the identifying, evaluating, modifying and implementing computer solutions that will meet the business needs of customers within the timeframe and cost requirements in order to provide good customer service. 4. Consult with department managers to develop system solutions consistent with organisational objectives, negotiating vendor contracts for the purchase and installation of hardware and software as required. 5. Create, develop and communicate policies, processes, procedures and standards for network, software and hardware use, including security, backup and recovery plan to ensure proper use and handling of any down time or emergency situations. 6. Instruct users in the use of standard business and administrative software, including word processing, spreadsheets and datasets, as well as provide technical support and training to staff to ensure sufficient knowledge and assistance for day-to-day use in the Department. 7. Investigate and respond to customer queries regarding quality to ensure an effective customer service. Maintain log and/or list of required repairs and maintenance. 8. Supervise the installation and maintenance of hardware and software. 9. Ensure that computer systems and peripheral equipment are installed, adequate, upgraded and working properly with minimum down time, as well as ensure that all servers are fully functional to ensure efficiency within the Department. Troubleshoot the network operating system (approving access, accounts etc.), hardware, and software. 10. Maintain an inventory of computer parts and equipment at appropriate level to ensure that any issues or shortages are dealt with in a timely manner with minimum interruptions. 11. Perform any other related duties as required by supervisor or any other senior officer in order to contribute to the effectiveness and efficiency of the department.
