SeniorNet Association Inc. February, 2015 “Seniors helping seniors use computers and the internet” SeniorNet Association Inc. PO Box 559 Booval Qld 4304 Tel: (07) 3812 5034 www.seniornet.com.au President’s View GUEST SPEAKER Shayne Neumann MP Federal Member for Blair How changes to health care will affect seniors. FREE PARKING PERMIT Parking regulations for visitors to USQ are still in progress. Members will be advised when final arrangements have been made. As planned the Ipswich campus was transferred to the University of Southern Queensland on 7th January – you may have seen a photo of the flag raising ceremony in the Queensland Times. We then held a Trainers Meeting five days later – the booking system worked well but Security had some trouble finding the key to let us into the Boilerhouse. However, the full set of computers is still there so we expect to be running workshops and a few courses in the first block (February-March). The good news is that there will be no parking fees under the new owners – but you will need a parking permit for inside your windscreen (see photo below) which we plan to issue during the three Orientation sessions on 4th, 8th and 11th February, together with your new Usernames and Passwords. PLEASE MAKE THE EFFORT TO COME TO ONE OF THESE SESSIONS as otherwise you will inconvenience other members at subsequent Workshops and Courses. The trainers expressed concern that although a significant proportion of our membership comes to the General Meetings we are seeing a falloff in attendance at Workshops. We will therefore be circulating a survey at the February meeting to see if you can tell us what would make workshops more useful and relevant to your needs.
