A New Benefit to Membership
Parkview Heart Institute and Parkview Center for Healthy Living have joined
efforts to give members a discounted rate on the HeartSmart CT scan, a
screening test for coronary heart disease. Now, it costs just $25 for the
screening instead of the normal $50 fee. The HeartSmart CT scan is available
at three locations in Fort Wayne and at Parkview hospitals in Columbia City,
Huntington, LaGrange and Kendallville.
Follow these easy steps:
›› When you call to make an appointment, tell the scheduling staff member that
you’re a Parkview Center for Healthy Living member.
›› Present your membership key tag to registration personnel upon arriving for
your appointment.
Coronary artery disease is a slow, progressive condition that can begin early in
life and go undetected for years. Taking less than 15 minutes, HeartSmart CT is
a simple, non-invasive scan that can detect coronary artery disease in its early
stages. The test is most appropriate for women over 45 years of age and men
over 40.
To schedule an appointment, call (260) 373-8900 or toll free (877) 225-5747.

Schedule a 20-minute consultation with an
experienced diabetes educator. Call (260) 672-6500

Born out of necessity and cultural heritage, soul food
has played a dominant role in the lifestyle and eating
habits of African-Americans. However, many modern
preparations of soul food include a liberal amount
of animal fat, salt and other high-sodium sources.
These ingredients can negatively impact chronic
diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure,
heart disease and obesity. Join Chris Moore, RD, in
a discussion on alternative foods to enhance meal
preparation without sacrificing the rich flavors of
classic soul food dishes. Call (260) 672-6500 to let
