party parade 2015 | 2
The Claremont Community Foundation invites you to
become a part of a Claremont tradition that embodies the
true meaning of “community”—people from all walks of life
coming together, getting to know one another, and working
cooperatively to keep our community strong and healthy.
Our 19th annual series of special hosted events provides
a variety of themes, food, and entertainment to appeal
to every taste. Participants will meet new and interesting
folks, share food, fun and friendship—while benefiting
the Foundation.
The dozens of event hosts, as well as many community
businesses, have generously contributed their time, talent,
food and supplies so that all guest reservations and
contributions can directly benefit the Claremont
Community Foundation.
Make your reservations early since many parties sell out fast!
You will find your order form and instructions for reserving
your spaces at the front of this booklet.
You may also make your reservations online! See our website
for details at www.claremontfoundation.org.
Share this invitation booklet with a
friend. Help us spread the word about the
Foundation and its good work!

We are celebrating 26 years of the Claremont Community
Foundation (CCF), as a charitable organization with
a comprehensive mission: The Claremont Community
Foundation champions charitable giving to improve the
quality of life in our community now and for future
generations. In a region with as much diversity and special
interests as ours, the Foundation helps translate a variety of
dreams and ideas into action. Hundreds of local businesses,
individuals, families and community organizations have
joined together to build a solid base of support that will
carry local philanthropy far into the 21st century.
The Foundation serves as a philanthropic “bridge”
between community resources and community needs
in two main ways:
1. The Community Impact and Arts grants programs
provide support to new and ongoing community
programs and projects. Since its first grant in 1990,
the Foundation has awarded more than $500,000
to more than 300 projects and organizations in
these areas.
2. Separate component Funds created by donors and
organizations are administered by the Foundation for
charitable causes of special interest to these donors.
Tax advantages and investment management services
are benefits to the donor, while the community benefits
from the projects supported by these Funds. In addition
to these special-purpose funds, the Foundation’s
21st Century Endowment Fund is growing to take
care of the future needs of our town. A variety of
charitable giving options are available for donors who
wish to invest in our community’s future!
The Claremont Community Foundation is personal…
citizens caring for each other and working together to make
things happen. It’s positive…local activities and projects
that make a difference in people’s lives. It’s permanent…
preserving community values and resources for future
generations. There’s a role for anyone interested in the
Foundation’s goal of “Enriching Our Community and
Creating Our Future.” To become involved, drop in, write,
call, visit our website, or e-mail:

Establish a
Donor-Advised Fund
party parade 2015 | 4
Your giving journey starts here with a Claremont
Community Foundation Donor-Advised Fund
A donor-advised fund at CCF makes it easy to support
the causes and organizations you care about most—here
in Claremont or around the world. As a donor, you can
contribute to your fund at any time and recommend grants
in your desired amount ($250 or greater).
Creating a donor-advised fund at the Claremont Community
Foundation is easy. Here’s how:
1. Create Your Fund
Our team will work with you to name your fund, assign
advisors and establish your giving intentions.
2. Contribute to Your Fund
Once your fund is open, you can make tax-deductible gifts
of cash, securities, or real property.
3. Recommend Grants
Your Grant Recommendations can be made by submitting
a charitable distribution request by email, fax or U.S. mail.
Grants can be made to local, national or international
charitable organizations or efforts. Our staff will conduct
due diligence and contact you with any concerns. A grant
check will be sent to the recipient organization with a cover
letter explaining grant details and expectations in the name
of your fund.
4. Take Advantage of Exclusive Donor Services
Personalized service is just a call or click away. You can
access our team of professionals as frequently as you desire.
Customized services include strategic giving plans, site visits,
and research in your areas of charitable interest.
5. Track Fund Activity
Quarterly activity reports summarize fund balance, grants
made, contributions received, investment activity and fees.
If you are interested in starting a Donor Advised Fund,
please email ccf-info@claremontfoundation.org or call
(909)398-1060.

wish. Reservations will be accepted now. However, to allow
all guests equal opportunity to attend their chosen parties,
reservations received on or before Tuesday, February 18 will
be held for processing until 4:00 p.m. on that date. Due to
potentially heavy demand for some events, parties with more
paid reservations on the opening date than spaces available
will be filled by lottery. Remaining spaces will be filled on
a first-come, first-served basis. Confirmation of reservations
will be made by email or telephone prior to the date of
the party. Phone and online orders must be guaranteed
by credit card (Visa or MasterCard only, please).
• Payment must be received to confirm your reservation.
Please do not ask hosts to hold spaces or process your
reservations. You may bring, mail, e-mail or telephone
your reservations to:
Claremont Community Foundation
205 Yale Avenue
Claremont, CA 91711
(909) 398-1060
www.claremontfoundation.org
Hosts and sponsors support all costs of the parties
themselves. 100% of your contribution amount directly
supports the Foundation and its programs. Your confirmed
reservations will be verified by contact from the Foundation
office and/or by direct contact from your hosts. If your
first choice(s) are full, you may select alternative(s) from
remaining available events, or be placed on a waiting list.
Once reservations are confirmed, no refunds for guest
cancellations are possible.
• Reservations will be accepted as long as spaces
are available.
If you are unable to attend any of the parties, but wish to
support the important work of the Claremont Community
Foundation, please consider attending:
Party #12: Do Your Own Thing!
Your donation will be most appreciated!

Chapter V
Are you a book lover? Join fellow readers to meet Naomi
Hirahara, award-winning author of the Mas Arai mystery
series featuring one of mystery fictions most unique heroes—
