Words of Wisdom
BEAUTY IN FORGIVENESS
Humanity is never so beautiful
as when praying for forgiveness,
or else forgiving another.
—Jean P. F. Richter
Together, We Change Lives
A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who made a commitment
to the 2015 Archbishop’s Charities and Development Drive
(ABCD). To date, 198 of our 2,418 families have responded with
Gifts and pledges of $108,900. However, we need the support of all members of St. Elizabeth
Ann Seton if we are to be successful in reaching our parish goal of $259,643.
Now is the time to make a return to the Lord for all He has given us. Even a small gift can
make a big difference in the lives of those in need. Whether your gift is $50, $365, $1,000 or
even $5,000, it is truly impactful and appreciated. If you have not yet responded to the 2015
ABCD, please consider making a gift - a gift from the heart - by using the pledge envelopes
available in the pews, in the parish office or by making a gift online at www.isupportabcd.org.
Thank you for all that you do and the spirit in which you do it! God bless you!

Stations of the Cross
Thursday Evenings 7 pm
Each Thursday evening during Lent,
we will have the opportunity to
gather and celebrate the sacred liturgy where
the “Stations of the Cross” are presented
during the Liturgy of the Word. This
presentation of the Stations is nothing like
you remember from the past!
These
reflections are a unique way of putting you
right on the road to Calvary with Jesus.
Along the “way”, He shares with us His
thoughts and feelings. He also shows the
parallels with our own daily struggles. We
invite you to draw on the insight, strength
and wisdom contained in them. If you do
only one thing for spiritual growth this Lent,
let this be it! It could change your life!

Important Parishioner Information
Please remember to use your Offertory envelopes. There are always extra envelopes available from the
ushers in the back of the church should have forgotten yours or if you have not received them. You
must use your envelopes if you plan to be a sponsor, godparent, get a price reduction at a Catholic
School, or enroll your children in Religious Education. It is the Church, not just this parish, which insists
that signs of a good faith commitment be present on these occasions. You must be able to demonstrate that you
are a practicing Catholic. While the parish depends on the financial support of its parishioners, it’s not the
amount of the donation but the fact that you are attending Mass & doing what you are able to contribute to the
support of the Church. Being a registered member of our parish also enables us to provide you with a record of
your contributions for tax purposes at the end of the year. Thank You for your support, we are very blessed!

place to talk to someone who is going through what you are feeling. The group is a safe place where we,

the healing process and move on with our lives. Call Florence at 954-755-9065 for more information.

Planned Giving Archdiocese of Miami
“How shall I make a return to the Lord for all he has done for me?” Psalm 116:12
As we are examining our lives during lent, it is a good time to also examine all we own. Do we need to
clean house? Do you own something you no longer need but could help the Church? That something may be
an old life insurance policy. You can give your no longer needed insurance policies to St. Elizabeth Ann
Seton. If the policy has a cash value, you may also get a tax deduction. For more information, contact the
Office of Planned Giving at 305-762-1110.
Spiritual Adoption ~ Five Month Old Developing Baby
Your spiritually adopted baby weighs more than one pound and is about 12 inches long. His mother can feel
his movement. He can hear music, people talking, traffic, and other outside sounds. We are midway through
the pregnancy now. Your prayers help the baby’s mother continue with her pregnancy and seek the
support she needs.

February 22, 2015 ~ GOD’S WORD TODAY
The Church teaches us that two spiritual strands weave together to form the fabric
of the season of Lent. The first, and most familiar, is the repentant character of
Lent. Through the penitential practices of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving we
spend these forty days in the desert of repentance, preparing for the celebration of Easter. The second strand is
the baptismal character of this holy season. The unbaptized spend Lent in preparation for their baptism and
most of us, the already baptized, spend this time preparing to renew the promises - the covenant - established
when we were baptized. Today’s readings echo this theme of the covenant between God and us - God’s holy
people. Let us enter the Lenten desert of repentance, mindful of the promises made at our baptism when we
rejected Satan and professed faith in God. From Saint Margaret Sunday Missal, copyright © J. S. Paluch Company
