Here’s just one of the several reports: On July 25, 2014, we shipped out 11 tons of plastic caps from the old public storage facility in Lantana, FL. Home Depot, District 154, graciously donated the shipping of a 53 foot tractor-trailer to transport the 11 tons of caps and lids to the Blue Grass recycling center in Kentucky. The shipping was a community event with volunteers and supporters enjoying food, music and fun. Home Depot made it a Team Depot Event where associates from several stores volunteered their own time to come load the boxes onto pallets and wrap them and assist loading the truck or just cheer us on. The first 14 wheelchairs from this project have been donated in the U.S.A. Keep up the good work. Caps of love founder and President Valarie Mathieu. President Rosie shared the thank yous from Fr. Ron from the National Council of Catholic Women for their $25 contribution to the Voice of Catholic Women and from Birthline for the Baby Jesus shower gifts in late December in support of those facing crisis pregnancies in our area. She also shared a brochure that St. Boniface Christian Women’s Group has made up to invite new memberships. Discussion about mailing something similar to the Women of MIC parish here this spring. Those present responded to a request for a donation to the Rocori Senior Graduation Party. $10 will be sent. A delicious banana cake with pudding frosting was served. Celina Gill won the Madonna Prize and all exchanged Prayer Partners. City Council The Rockville City Council meets on the third Wednesday of the month, February 18th, at 6pm at the City Hall. Open to the public. Everyone is welcome to attend and to speak at the beginning or ending open forum (or both). Men’s Conference The Diocesan Catholic Men’s Conference is at St. Johns on Saturday, February 21st. Walkins are accepted. All are welcome. Pizza and Bingo Party Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish Catholic United Financial is having its annual Pizza/Bingo Party and a short meeting at the Rockville Parish Center from 1pm-3pm, Sunday, February 22nd. Rockville Fire Department The regular Fire Department drill is changed to Monday, February 23rd at the fire hall for those on drill schedule. First responders also have their first session on February 23rd and all members have CPR re-certification. Family Faith Formation The cluster parishes of Rockville, Luxemburg and Pearl Lake had their second Faith Formation session of February on Wednesday the 11th at 7pm at St. Wendelin’s school in Luxemburg. This year’s overall theme is “Scripture”, each class studied and emphasized various aspects of the bible. The lower grades us the Magazine Venture which deals with the Gospels of each week. In this past Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus brings God’s life-giving, healing power among the people of Galilee. Mark pictures Jesus dynamically, as a man of action who raises up Peter’s mother-inlaw to serve among his disciples. He also shows Jesus as one who frees the possessed, who crowd at his door, who seeks time to pray and who hurries on with his followers to the next town. The lesson explores ways the children can imitate Jesus compassion and love for people. The healing by Jesus in the Gospel is connected to the Sacrament of the Sick, this was reviewed with the students and as the Sacrament that gives five special graces, unites their suf- Cold Spring Record ferings with those of Christ, bring strength, peace, courage, brings forgiveness, restores health if that will best ensure their eternal salvation and it prepares them for death if that’s God’s will. A Priest or Bishop usually administer this Sacrament while anointing a person’s forehead and hands. The third February Family Faith Formation Session is scheduled for Wednesday, February 18th, this is, of course, Ash Wednesday. All students and parents are urged to attend Mass and receive ashes at any of the churches in the cluster. Luxemburg 7:45am and 7pm, Pearl Lake 10:30am and Communion Service at 7pm and Rockville 7pm Mass and ashes. No classes will be conducted. 40 Days for Life The 40 Days for Life Campaign runs during Lent this spring, February 18th – March 29th. All are invited and encouraged to pray, reach out to those in crisis pregnancies and join the cluster parishes in volunteering on Tuesdays at the vigil in front of Planned Parenthood. The response of volunteers to pray and participate in the peaceful prayer vigil at Planned Parenthood in St. Cloud for the next 40 days is spectacular. A big thanks to all, those who committed for an hour each week and those who will be praying often for the lives of the unborn. There are 12 hours each Tuesday that are mostly covered by at least two and sometimes five volunteers, walking, praying and carrying the posters that proclaim All Life Has Meaning or just plain Stop Abortion. All are welcome to stop and spend as much time in peaceful vigil on any weekday from 7am to 7pm and Saturdays from 7am to 3pm. There’s always someone there with posters, all you need to do is walk and pray (please dress for the weather). Field of Dreams Water & Sewer Service – Brad Matuska The Council was presented with the cost figures for the water connection fee, sewer connection fee, water meter, and usage fees based on an estimated amount of water that would be used at the field. The connection and meter fees totaled $7,216.88 and the estimated monthly usage fees for a concession stand and bathroom would be $401.45, while the sprinkling fees would start at $30.50 per week and increase with the amount of water used. Mayor Thelen suggested waiving the WAC and SAC fees, the water meter fee, base fee, and lower tier usage fees for water but to charge for the water used beyond the lower level fee. Matuska stated that the agreement for the use of the fields between the Youth Sports Association and the Rocori School District is renewable for a ten or twenty year period. The Council agreed that the contribution would go to a good cause and that the water would need to be metered. Councilor Dingmann stated that they did the initial fact finding but they are still getting commentary and feedback. Mayor Thelen stated that as the Chief Administrator, Hetland was in charge of restructuring who staff will go to when they have praise or complaints with staff. Council Ramler and Dingmann stated that they felt they needed Council approval to go on with or close the fact finding investigation. Mayor Thelen suggested that to give closure to the matter that the investigation be closed down and revisited it in six months, if needed. Councilor Ramler stated that there are still some things up in the air that he would like to get resolved yet, but if that the Council wants to shut it down then the Council needs to make that decision. Hetland stated that he has a right under Minnesota State Statutes to see the facts of the fact finding, including the individuals that made the complaints, what the complaints were about and when the complaints were made about him and his other staff. Hetland went on to state that Councilor Ramler was involved in a serial meeting, between the three Council members and that was a violation of the open meeting law. Mayor Thelen stated that they would let the City Attorney deal with that if needed. Member Austreng introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DISTRICT TO ENTER INTO A LINE OF CREDIT AGREEMENT WITH A FINANCIAL INSTITUTION WHEREAS, upon review of financial projections, the Board has determined that Independent School District No. 750 (the “District”) may face cash flow problems in 20142015; WHEREAS, District staff has entered into negotiations and has reached a tentative agreement, subject to Board approval and Bank acceptance, with Granite Community Bank, with an office in Cold Spring, Minnesota (the “Bank”); and WHEREAS, the Board desires to enter into such an agreement with the Bank, as authorized by Minnesota Statutes, Section 123B.12(b), as amended; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the School Board of Independent School District No. 750, State of Minnesota, as follows: 1. Upon the effective date of this resolution, the District hereby agrees to establish a revolving line of credit (the “Line”) with the Bank whereby the Bank will advance funds to the District to resolve cash flow problems. 2. The amount advanced at any time under the Line will not exceed the lesser of (a) $1,000,000 or (b) ninety-five percent (95%) of the District’s average expenditure per month of operating expenditures in the previous fiscal year ($1,580,470 per month for fiscal year 2014).
